Just recently, and I know the weather has warmed up a tad, my Griff is really hot in the driver foot-well. So much so, if I have the top down it makes little difference.

I don't believe I've got a cabin heater issue. It never blows that warm anyway. It's been mentioned the gearstick rubber gaiter split will allow under bonnet heat into the cabin, and yes the rubber is split underneath the leather sheath, but I just aren't feeling the heat coming in from the centre console area.

The under bonnet and inner wing insulation is intact too, and the exhaust / headers etc are all good and mounted as they should be.

Is this heat normal with a few degrees of higher temp weather or am I missing something? It would be very uncomfortable to drive to say, the South of France. Surely this is beyond normal?

TIA

The footwells do get bit warm especially on the later cars with precats & cats in the exhaust, its well worth fitting some extra sheilding around the footwells or wrapping the manifolds. Or re-move the precats?

Mine doesn’t get that hot in the foot well’s, in fact just the opposite. On the drivers side I have a draft round my ankles that I’ve never been able to source and on a long run I kneed the heater on to compensate.

Cheers,

Simon.

I had no issues with heat in the footwell until about a month ago. It isn't just hot in there. It's suddenly become very bloody hot.

Ditto, the draught howls round my ankles - I think it comes through the gap at the leading edge of the door. I am in two minds about whether to fix it!

Hi sean, had exactly same issues with my 4.3. remedy?
fitted another Nova heater motor (similar setup to interior heater motor) behind O/S headlamp with ducting over wheel arch and fed into drivers foot well and swithched independantley.
worth a try.

I presume the vent down there on the left is closed?

Mine was very draughty and I found a round hole about 1" across just under the steering column. Covered it with gaffer tape and that's solved most of the draught.

You should have two vents in the drivers footwell (at least on my pre-serp & early Serp 500's).
One is by your left knee on the transmission tunnel that is connected to the heater system (unless closed this will blow warm/hot air regardless of whether the heater fan is on) and the other;
Is down by your right foot on the inner wing. This has a round golf ball style directional openin vent and is connected to the aux cold air fan along with the right hand dash vent (Unless closed it will blow cold air regardless of whether the aux fan is on)

Not sure if the Griffs have a brake master cylinder cover like the chims but my chim blew really hot air through to the drivers footwell when I had it off for a bit.

Hiya Dave. Not sure I follow. Are you saying the blower motor you fitted gave more cool air? I thought you found more heat when we spoke about it before. How's the Wedge, and is that Griff ready for a burn?

So, my clutch master cyl cover is off, but it's been on when it's been bloody hot, but now you have me wondering. Found the heater hole, but never seen the vent down by my foot. I've even had a picknick down there when sorting the clutch master. I must be blind!

Hi sean, yes, fitted another blower motor in addition to the one for the heating, and yes blows cool air into drivers footwell to reduce temp.
Just poly bushing the rear on the Griff. at the mo, wont bother putting it on the road this year due to lack of time.
Hows your Griff - still smiling?

Still smiling Dave, but there's been some downsides (nearly a grand is one of them, lol) but have been to some wonderful roads and places. Put it this way. The Buell has taken a back seat thus far. Need to get the Buell MOT'd next week and get some miles on it before the snow arrives biggrin

Bang on the money Rats. With all the clutch transmission woes, I'd been monitoring the clutch fluid level these past few weeks. Got tired of sealing the cover on every time. Wynns Gasket Maker's a tenner a tube, lol!!!

You wouldn't for a moment imagine what heat comes into the footwell leaving that little cover off. Unbelievable difference. Now it's back on the big lairy Griff is comfortable to drive. Even in yesterdays heatwave - you call that a heatwave - sunny weather!

Thanks for all the good suggestions. Heat problem now solved cool
