There are some that are, but none on ebay.

Ok, was hoping it could have a Superchip or such. Think I'll stick to just getting a heat shielded induction kit and removing the cats then.

You should probably remove the cats anyway, to help future resale value... after all, they'll only scratch up the leather.

I'm sceptical about any chip that claims to work on such a wide range of engines though - 320/323/325? They'll all have different fuelling requirements.

Better off going for induction kit, exhaust and a remap. Was looking into a remap on the 318iS (sniff, sniff, I so miss that car), would have been about £300 for a realistic 10bhp max increase. Would have been worth it to smooth over the flat spots.

Surely on an N/A engine a chip will not be worth it. Money vs BHp that is.

I'm really talking about second hand chips on Ebay or the like for circa £50. If I could get an original Superchip or such then it's got to be worth it for about a reputable 10 bhp gain?

I had one on a E36 320i, the previous owner included the original chip for us and I found it made a difference, especially in the mid range and also raised the rev limit a couple of hundred rpm IIRC. The car had covered many miles with the chip and the engine still ran fine with over 210,000 miles when the car was scrapped due to excessive corrosion. Sold the chip on Ebay in the end.
