Hi Alan,

Did you ever run the Emerald with the Dissy.

Also when you connected the coil to the ECU for RPM did you leave the Resister in place or remove it.

Would it be ok to give you a call tomorrow if I get stuck.

Thanks
Leigh

Leigh - sure call any time.

Never ran with the dizzy - went straight to 2 * 4 coil packs with a trigger wheel.

Did not wire up the rev counter .. found out quite late that a converter was needed..

Ok new question.

On the coil packs.
Do you use all 4 ignition drivers.
If so does
Driver 1 drive cylinders 1 and 6
Driver 2 drive cylinders 8 and 5
Driver 3 drive cylinders 4 and 8
Driver 4 drive cylinders 2 and 3

also are the injection drivers do they driver the same injectors are cyclinders

Thanks
Leigh

Yes - 4 drivers (some of your wrong : it's :

Driver 1 drive cylinders 1 and 6
Driver 2 drive cylinders 8 and 5
Driver 3 drive cylinders 4 and 7 <--
Driver 4 drive cylinders 2 and 3

Because it's wasted spark - it does not matter which of the leads of a pair goes to which cylinder

e.g. Driver 1 - cylinders 1 & 6 .. leads can go to either plug.

Just connect them to a spare set and lay then on the plenum until you see them with good sparks.

Remember the crank sensor can be wired either way but only gived reliable sparks one way round..

I think

Was a typo.

Well I've used the sensor supplied by emerald, plus there mini loom and used the right colours and there plug has a + on it.
so I think I have that right.

What I was not 100% sure about was the injection set-up. I need to know what injectors get wired to what injection drivers.

Thanks
Leigh

Got an Email back from Emerald,

They said the injectors should fire in the same pairs as the coils.
Even if this does mean they fire once on a closed valve and once on a open one, they say this is ok, and the fuel just sits there and the 2 shots will go in when the valve opens, also this helps keep the valve cool also.

They did say the coils should be timed the same as the injectors i.e. 0 90 180 and 270.

I think the older systems just used fire 4 injectors are the same time, left and right. so don't think injector timing matters too much, as the mixture timing is controlled mainly by the cam shaft.

Any luck I may have it working tomorrow.

Brrrrm! Yeah the fuel will wait till the valve opens - Lucas system did only have 2 banks.

I think the later P38 with the 3 plug ECU had sequential injection as the loom I had for the P38 had a ECU pin for each injector.

Also the ECU pins on the P38 loom are the same as the emerald. so that was handy, took a while to undo it all, so I only had the wires I wanted.

Yes, all running.

had to change to hose from remote, to solid pipe as suction was crushing the hose.

Also had to increase the throttle opening as not got an idle valve.
Fitted new plugs also as some of them had got a bit wet and was not working right, was getting a big temp differance accross the headers. was a lot more consistant with new plugs.

the 450 Seac map seemed to work best. once I put in idle ingnition, and turn on ingnition advance Idle control.
It's running a little ritch.

used the locked ingnition to double check with strobe. was only 10 out of what I calculated via counting teeth.

got 2 fan working from ECU cutting in at 90 then 2nd at 95, vai relays.
Also got fuel pump working off ECU. but pump's not running on crank, it pumps for 3 sec's on start-up and once running, but if you turn on and then wait a few mins, it will not start. you have to do a re-set so fuel get's pressured again, FPR may have a leak. need to try and fit the adjustable one.

Got rev counter working on digital dash. plus LC1 Lambada working on ECU and Digital dash.

don't think I could have got it working with the SD1 map.
Also there is a config file also, that seperate to the map.

Only thing I wish I did with the old ECU was to take a datalog of the LC1
