How long will it last
Discussion
I’ve been getting a misfire once the engine was hot and put under load, which suddenly got a lot worse. After cleaning and inspecting all the ignition components and finding the original fit coil was weeping I decided to replace it with a new Bosch item.
Ordered for same day delivery (yesterday) went to pick it up and…….. it’s wasn’t the correct item, as usual “the number I had must be wrong” as they don’t make mistakes, so I asked for an alternative to suit the Griff.
They came up with an Intermotor item for £28 which looked the right size and shape, even came with the correct bracket and a selection of new terminals.
Fitted it last night and after a test drive problem solved, she runs sweet as ever.
But….How long will it last ?
Any experience of this coil, should a get a new Bosch item and carry it as a spare.
Cheers,
Simon.

Thanks Quinny.
Is that fitted to a 500?
this site doesn't state the 500 but maybe their records are not up to date

Not Long….
It’s started playing up again, I just hope it’s not something else that is causing the coil to fail.
Any way I’ve got a shinny new Bosch item on my desk (courtesy of ACT, many thanks for the speeding response, ordered Monday and it arrived yesterday) which I’ll fit this afternoon.
To be fair to Intermotor, I’m not sure that the one I was given was correct, as the supplier I used first time defiantly got the Bosch part number wrong.
Will let you know…

Just compared all three.
From left to right, Bosch, Intermotor and the original 1997 fit.

The Bosch and original are the same diameter and length, but the Intermotor is 10mm shorter and 5mm smaller on diameter (if it’s the correct one). Both the original and the Intermotor are not full of fluid, when shaken it can be felt sloshing about inside, but the Bosch feels full with no discernable liquid movement.
Cheers,
Simon.
