dash board failure ?

While all the display functions are working properly, I discovered that I can not/no more reset the trip milage counter (rotating switch button counter clock-wise) and I also can not access the 2nd level menue with the data storage (top speed etc..), but the display keeps telling me "awaiting data . ." for minutes...until I switch off the ignition. Furthermore, when setting the volume to level 7, I can still hardly hear the beep sound.

Is this a common problem (loose wire connections?, worn switch button connections?, ECU failure?) - any experiences how to fix this, please ?
