I am looking for a satnav that will allow me to effectively draw a route around the UK. ie I want satnav that I can program a route into, rather than go where the satnav wants to take me. Can anyone recommend a model that will enable me to do this. Thanks.

I know there are some Tom Tom models that can, but I have no experience of which ones.

From the Garmin range, the Nuvi 760 will, as will the Zumo 550.

From the TT range, most have this function 'Itinerary planning'. The X20 and X30 ranges do, and some Ones, but NOT Tomtom One v3. Equivalent of Garmin 750 would be TT 730, I think.

Garmin Zumo550 comes with a CD which has all Western Europe and some Eastern Europe on it. You load that into your PC and you can plan routes all over the place. If you so desire, you can then load these routes into your Zumo.
If you're out and about you can plan routes on the Zumo iitself. The Zumo also acts as a hands free bluetooth connection for your phone.
