Hi

I'm trying to replace the fuel cap on my S3 - I believe the part number is S28L 10008. Please can someone point me in the right direction as to where to buy one from?

Also, is there any sort of conversion kit available to change the rear drum brakes to discs?

Many thanks

Jaye, what exactly do you need, the chrome filler cap assembly or the filler neck fitted to the body?

It's the chrome filler capp assembly I need - the rubber inside the cap is corroding.

Jaye I may be able to help but cannot say until friday (day off) can you mail me with a phone number? Jaye if your v6 is standard you shouldn't need to change the rear to discs (it's something I considered at first) 'cos the rear will be overbraked,(the brakes when set up correctly are pretty damn good anyway unless you servo is holed) if however you have plans for installing a cossie then a LSD + disc conversion is a good idea. I think an escort cossie is the correct donor but someone will be along and confirm or put me straight.

Number on the way via e-mail.

Thanks for the help - will no doubt speak to you Friday. With regards to the brakes - I was just enquiring as I am sprinting the car and wondered whether it would be better with discs?

Plan is to take apart & then re-build the car during the winter - to properly 'get to know it'. Having had it 6 years I still don't understand it & thought a re-build would be a good way of getting a better understanding of the car.

regarding the brakes then I suppose from a hard braking/cooling point of view then discs would be better - come on boys advise on the donor cars for thos of you who have done it smile

Rear discs are ford sierra - look up ABS models with rear discs.
The bits are often on ebay.

I can't offer any advice whether you need to change the master cylinder or the rear brake pressure proportioning valve (the metal thing with a brake pipe in/out near the master cylinder) but be very careful - if the rear ends up over braked then under braking the rears could lock up and then the car will swap ends eek

Jaye, sorry mate but the filler cap assembly has already been removed, if the rubber on yours has not split can you massage it back to life with some rubber grease/vaseline to make it more supple. Sorry about the double entendre no doubt I'll get some stick.

Did you get this sorted? If not, then is it just the rubber sealing ring that is in the flap that you need?

When I looked on TVR CarParts site a while back you had to remove the riveted steel sealing piece and rubber seal from the cap and transfer these to the new filler cap assembly.
