Rear Brake noise
Discussion

Searched posts and couldn't find anything on this - apologies if its duplicated.
After a reasonable trip of average driving with some motorway use, stop start in traffic etc, I have noticed that once the car has been warmed up you can hear some 'cyclic rubbing' coming from the rear off side wheel.
Wheels are stock and there is no strange debris stuck in the arch! When you are at slow speeds and you hear it, pressing the brakes makes no differnce the noise - its like someone dabbing sandpaper to the wheel as your going along.
If you GENTLY pull the handbrake up the noise changes, so it must be something to do with the handbrake assembly.
The car has been in THREE times with this problem - the last time around I asked for new hubs/discs and handbrake mechanism which they said they had done (the discs and hubs looked new but they had had the car for over 4 months due to another warranty issue) - however, just like the previous two times - after a few weeks the noise comes back again.. .
So.. does anyone:
1) have any idea what's causing it?
2) can recommend a GOOD monaro dealer nearest to St.Albans in Hertfordshire?
Cheers Mr V.

Got the same since new on my 500, same wheel. The rubbing noise increases as you give more lock.
Dab the brakes and it stops for a while.
I was going to run it down to Greens to get them to take a look.
Still hauls up 500 horses pretty quick from 150mph so does not seem to serious.
Less than 4K miles out of every Pirelli is a bigger issue right now!

When you say 'rubbing' noise, do you mean a typical disc on pad scraping, or more of a groan? I have had the latter, from the rear every so often, since I bought mine, and it only ever happens outside of a 1 mile radius from any Vauxhall dealer!! It does also go with a dab of brake pedal, but not before increasing in pitch very slightly I've noticed. This is with AP's as well by the way.
That's not to mention the infernal ticking from the front left hand wheel as well, which Greens told me was the little plastic caps on the nuts, but obviously isn't, because it still happens when I've taken them off!
Grrr... little noises drive me mad!!

Then jack that wheel up and spin it by hand!
Also, sometimes a stone in the tyre tread clicks on the road.
Well they've had it up on the ramps, had the wheels off etc, so I assumed the basics had already been covered, but maybe I'll have to do it myself. I have had a look before, albeit not jacked up, and there's nothing that fouls the wheels at any point, and the tyres are clean. Pain in the a hole.
