Most of the press release pics of the evora had blacked out windows,
(i know it was probably to do with concealing the interior/photoshop)
the one at the unveiling yesterday obviously didin`t.

if you owned one would anyone go for the blacked out look?

You can't - it's not legal on the road with blacked out front/side windows. Lotus wouldn't supply it like that and the police would stop you it you had it done and insist you remove the tinting or take the car.

I watch Road Wars too much.

i know you cant do the the front window, i`m meaning to ask if anyone would black the others though?
I personally wouldn`t and i`ve never seen a Lotus having them done apart from these pics of the evora.

you cant black out the sides or rear either and no decent window tinting firm will do it for you - the legal limit is 30% I think.

I have my Vantage and my old Elise done though - I dont like the sun and it would keep the cabin cooler in summer, also with security film, you cant break in as easy ...it dosent look black though, more like a light grey tint.

You will find most factory cars come with like a 5% tint anyway, from new, so if you add the legal 30% stuff on top, from a distance it will look tinted...but not black

anyone you see with black windows is breaking the law and can be given points/recification order etc - the Police can test this at the roadside too...

ah well sure then - the first thing I do with a new car, is get some new plates, with GB on, and 3/4 front, then get the windows done with security film @ 30% smoke tint, then get the wheels done matt anthracite powder coated (wipe clean finish) and the new car is ready to go smile

Any tint forward of the B pillar is illegal, other than the slight factory tint most cars come with. Behind the B pillar anything goes. That only leaves the rear window and small rear quarter section on the Evora. Why hide that lovely interior? smile

It was actaully because all the press pics were from a clay model not an actual car... if you look closer you see the rough edges and no reflection in any pictures.

If you *really* want the "tinted" look one idea is a very light tint on the sides and a total black out on the rear. I've seen a couple of cars like this and although it's not really to my taste it does give the impression of tints all round. Okay you can still see in through the windscreen but it creates the impression.

Some of the pics you get of cars with blacked out windows are actually full size clay models, so have no interior.
That's the case with the Autocar pics.
