I've been playing around with the maps on my Elise Sport 160 which has the DVA drivability kit fitted. I have two maps. One that came with the car, which was fully mapped on a rolling road. The other one is just the generic map for a 160 that I downloaded off the Emerald map site.

1st map: rolling road setup
With this map loaded in the Emerald, it has the common kangarooing down the road on light throttle symptoms of the 160. It looks to me like a nicely setup map as the 3D charts are very smooth for both the ignition and injection. The engine also runs very cleanly without any over fuelling on over run. Even if you turn off the no fuel on over run setting, it still doesn't over fuel.

2nd map: Generic 160
This map is much more ruff and the car runs quite a bit richer on this map. The car losses the kangarooing characteristic on this map, so I think it running richer is helping. But when you look at the 3D charts there are lean points on the injection chart. Which concerns me as this is around 5000-6000 RPM and at over half throttle. The Car does run fine on this map and the power feels smooth with no noticeable hesitation. With the car running richer I'm also getting over fuelling on over run. Which I know is sad but I do like the sound of.

So I'm thinking about making the rolling road map a little richer across the whole map to see if the kangarooing will go away. The ignition mapping I'll be leaving alone.

I have saved the map so I can go back to the original map at anytime. I know it would be easier to take it back to a rolling road and have a professional do it. But I would like to learn myself as I find it interesting and it's much more rewarding when you've done it yourself.

If anyone else has a Emerald fitted to there 160 and doesn't mind downloading the map and sending it to me. This would be very helpful as I could compare different maps So I can get a good Idea what a good map comprises of.

Tom,
I will have a look at my charts later, i do not have the emerald but had the driverbility kit that Lotus did added to mine. Recently had it put on a rolling road and am pretty sure from memory it has a lean bit, will check out the graphs later tonight.

if the lumpy running bit is just at a couple of combinations of throttle angle and revs you don't want to richen it up across the whole rev range, just target the bits that are giving you the problem.

Sounds more like a cam timing issue to me...
