Just wondered who are the best and cheapest at e-mail mail shots, I'm looking only to contact excisting customers with a view to keeping them updated on sales etc. So I need nothing too flash as will only have a link attached to the e-mail and few words.

Cheers

Presumably you have all the contact details, why not simply do it yourself? Create a distribution list in your email client and use it as the BCC address for your (e)mailshot. smile

I thought about that but would like to be able to track traffic through the site following the e-mails and alos those who follow the links and also give them an option to opt out. I'm not very computer literate and would find it easier to give someone else the headache of aorting it.

Google for Email Marketing solutions...

e.g. http://www.email-ladder.co.uk

If you were handy with VBScript it's a piece of piss to do your own...but if not you are better off buying the in the service from someone whose business it is.

Phil,

We've used these guys: Thinkology

They're system works pretty well, and is straightforward; you can upload Excel based email lists and Thinkology can create templates for you to fill with iamges (that you can easily create with Photoshop or similar). Piece of cake.

If you're on a budget I know people who use this:

http://www.constantcontact.com/index.jsp

For a more 'fully-featured' solution you could use:

http://www.pure360.com/index.html

We use Pure and know of others who do. It's the best solution I've found.

They are a customer of ours and offer a very good product and level of service. However I decided to go with New Zapp as their inertface was easier to use and they have been extremely helpful.

More importantly we ALWAYS make money on an emailshot which is good news!

BTW, the chap who started Pure 5 years ago has just sold it for £4m smile

We nick customers from Pure and New Zapp regularly + we're PHers - www.wizemail.co.uk - zero license fees for a fellow PHer.

Whatever you do, do not send volume BCC emails, the risk of getting your domain name grey/black listed and the associated consequences to your one-to-one commercial email does not bear thinking about.

On the tracking front - www.wizemail.co.uk/email-marketing/detailed-campai...

Give me a buzz and I'll make sure you're looked after.

Don.

£4M! Fair play to the bloke. He's obviously done a good job so hope he enjoys the spoils.

I did trial Newzapp too. The interface was good but I don't like dealing with companies with zero credit rating. Strong financials give you a bit more confidence that the company will be around next year.

Agree that Pure is a little fiddly but it's fine once you get used to it.
