Anyone go to the preview, and have feedback (and pics?), from last night in London?

Hang on hang on - here I am!

I'll keep it short as the delights of Heathrow beckon. Looks pretty much as expected from pics but, as ever IMO 'looks better in the flesh'. Not so 'heavy' at the back. When the curtain went up I didn't exactly go wow! But wasn't disappointed either and of course all the pics in the press over the last few months had given the game away anyway.Very slight feeling on first sight of 'is it more of a Merc SL type car BUT then they fired it up. Believe me MUCH more angry sounding than an F430 at tick over and as soon as that happens the whole car seems to LOOK different too. This dummy exhuast business seems to have been blown out of all proportion too. Certainly on the car we were shown you had to get on the floor and stick your eye right up against the tail pipe to see that the exhuast within is actually smaller than the tailpipe.

Is it me, or does that nose look very Gran Turismo in that second vid?

Also was the car they showed a 2 + 2? Just wondering how you would compare the rear seats to a DB9 or the Maser for example.

Cheers for that!

Ok so I went to see the California last night

The car is so much better looking in the flesh than in the photos
The roof mechanism is really cleaver and there is actually quite a substantial boot storage space
At low revs the exhaust sound is fantastic

The only but I didn’t like was the centre consol which just looked crap

Some words stolen from a chum who saw it the previous day!)

Fantastic venue The Hurlingham Club, hopeless to get a cab though
As you would expect very professional presentation from Ferrari yet felt warmly received!
Well catered and very friendly - Nice Girls smile
No Photography allowed

The car was the red with tan pre production car.
The sound was unbelievable symphonic and even better than the impressive 599

It is a Grand Tourismo car, quite pretty, interior very smart except electric window switches which look like they are from a 70's cadillac,

overall it looks much better in the flesh and the rear haunches don't look too big in real life, rear space alright for small kids with a 5'9 or 5'10 driver/ passenger, useable boot space OK but access is quite limited by roof intrusion.

Glad I've got one on order - Yes, will it be a success- absolutely NO doubt it will

Will people change their mind about not liking it when they see it in the flesh (because it's too much like Lexus, Maserati, Z3, Z4 etc) like they did with the 599 being like a Supra etc?................ I reckon so

Hi Bund. I went with Maranello but I got the impression it was early order/long standing punters only. I believe the whole of the Sytner group only invited about thirty people. You haven't missed that much as the car will start to be on show all over the place soon I'd guess.

Although I thought the car looked great, it was a bit unfortunate that I had a test drive in the LP560 at lunchtime yesterday (the car is very good btw).
The problem is that the Ferrari just looks a really nice car - the Lamborghini styling is just so much better and really looks like a real sportscar

the same can be said of Ferraris vs Lambos for the last 40 years though. The equivalent Lambos are always more aggressive and angular - often means they look more dated 10 years on though. Ferrari/Pininfarina are the masters of the timeless design - though i'll admit they've lost the plot to some extent in recent years.
