Can anyone tell me how I find out which model power output engine I have as I believe there were 3 different bhp power levels during the production years?

Hi Phil,

IIRC, the early E39 530d's originally had 184bhp, which was latterly upgraded to 193bhp from model year 2001. The first E60's had 218bhp and later E60 have the 231bhp unit.

I'm sure someone will be along to correct me!

Hi Matt,

In that case my 2002 facelift model is probably fitted with the 193 horse motor.
