Sagaris for day to day running

Hi ,

i am in a bit of quandry - I love the sagaris and finally can afford one but just not sure if it would be a complete waste of time for me

I live approx 2 miles from work and the car is mainly going to used for that , having read the other posts about the start up and running it's unlikely the oil temp would reach 40 degs on my journey
I am most likley to just damage the engine with my stop start type runiing ?

My neighbour has a Sagaris, and very nice it looks too, makes my day when he starts it up. Unfortunately only see it a couple of times a year

Believe me if you get a sagaris you will want go the scenic route to work, and everywhere else for that matter, they are the most addictive car I have ever driven and iv'e driven a few.

Get a cheap second car and use the sag on the weekend!

well i need a second car anyway if i have the sagaris but there is no long route to work , it's pretty much just down the road then leaving at night it's full of traffic no matter which way i go hence the car would be sitting idling pretty much for the two miles home or till i got to the next bit of dual carrigaeway

Hi Frank, Had my Sag a month now and love it to bits. I chose our office as it is exactly two miles to work but I ride in when the weathers ok and I have a run around 123D BMW for journeys where it is just motorways but since having the Sag I find myself driving in it alot and going the long way to work. Its worth it.

If I were you I would have the Sag as a weekend /holiday car and get something else as a cheap runaround.
I got my Sag last October and have done almost 6000 miles all of which have been very enjoyable.
I don't think the car would appreciate the short journey you have to make to work everyday.
A Sag is for FUN ,and a few long holiday trips plus the odd track day will give you more than enough enjoyment .

as above - 2miles a day - thats push bike territory...unless you are disabled etc and need a car to go that far !

My other half uses the Sag for daily use 400-500 miles per week ...no issues, had a few niggles in the early days with a throttle cable, and a master cylinder failing, but other than that, just fine.

Shes done over 70K miles now I think in SP6 engined TVRs in the last 4-5 years.

Oh it also did 3000 miles in 10 days touring Europe and 3 trackdays last year

So yeah - sure you can run one as a daily car, but for 2 miles a day, Id look after your heart and lungs and get a bike

I'd guess that using a Sag for a daily 2 mile commute throughout the year would lead to problems.

I'd agree. The Sp6 takes about 4-6 miles to warm up in my experience (I've had 3) and longer to be "fully" warmed up. I would not use one for a regular 2 mile commute.

I live about 4 miles from work and so taking the Sagaris isn`t really an option (due to the warm up and the funs over before my grinning has really started to hurt )

I just bought a cheap 2nd hand car for work and use the Sagaris at weekends!

I'm with you Guy's, The sp6 engine will be lumpy and will not have chance to warm up, if your only going to drive two miles each way. Your be heading for
an expensive time with the engine.
