I'm planning to tidy up my alloy wheels at the weekend and am considering using my Dremel + cloth polising wheel (item #423). The packet for the dremel wheel has got a picture of someone polishing an alloy wheel on it, so it must be safe (mustn't it?)wobble

Anyone done this?

Also, any recommendations for a laquer to put on afterwards?

be very carful. i've found that paint / coatings on alloys to be very thin and it doesn't take long to go straight through. imo you've be better to have a go with a very mild polish worked by hand then seal them up with a good wheel sealant such as poorboys wheel sealant.

if it's tar spots and brake dust you want to get rid of, try a tar and glue remover follwed by a clay bar. then a quick go over with the mild polish and seal them up.
