Hi all.. It's rather hot today and I have been stuck in queues of holiday traffic in Wisbech for a short trip to the petrol station.. avoid at all costs this morning !! Went around a mini roundabout and the engine cut out and the mil light came on with its associated whistle. Is this just a fuel problem perhaps due to the heat or something more sinister. Anyone had it before ? Hoping to attend Wedgefest tomorrow so hopefully it will be ok.

Edited to say that once I'd lifted the clutch I was back in business.

My gear may have been to high also for the slow taking of the mini roundabout.. was in second I think

Had the same thing last Saturday. Parked for 5 mins after town traffic in the sunshine. Started OK, but cut out after about 15yds. Left it to cool for a while and all was OK with no re-occurance since.

No idea why - so I'm not much help. But you are not alone!

cheers folks.

Julian ... There was no reason for it to stall hence my post. Although realise I said I may have been in too higher gear I'm pretty sure that it would have been 2nd. The revs were up and it would not normally have done that as I've been around that roundabout countless times over the last 18 months sadly. Still - it's seems to be ok so perhaps just one of those things. I think the mil light coming on and making a noise probably made me put a post up.

I wasn't commenting on why the car cut out. The only reason I post is that every time I get in my car the mil light is on and the car is whistling when the immobiliser is off and the ignition is on.

Only starting the car causes the mil to go out and the whistling to stop. If I were to stall my car, the engine would stop, the mil light would come on and the car would whistle, until I started the engine again.

I think thats how the handbook says it should be if I remember. It didn't used to do this I read my handbook one day and realised that my car didn't whistle and the light didn't come on when I did this. I traced the fault to a small wire fuse behind the dashboard that is actually part of the circuit board. ever since I resoldered that its been this way.

I really ought to find out where this is in the software to understand it cos not all Cerbs seem to do it, and I can't believe they all had broken fuses

Gotcha. I've not stalled during a drive before which is probably why I was a little concerend and as you say, that's the state prior to ignition, mil light on, buzzer sounding. Thanks for the added info Julian, all useful stuff.
