Anyone know how the bolt is held into the door( that the mirror then goes onto with grub screw) I thought it was just fibre glassed in? Also anyone know where you get a new one?

Cheers

The lower part that the mirror turret fastens to, with the grub screw, just screws into a brass bush which is fiber glassed into the body. When I had to replace my broken turret it was tight and needed a bit of gentle persuasion with a hammer and chisel to get the boss to unscrew. I put copper slip on it when replacing it as you have to fix the turret and mirror to it before you screw it back in. I also needs a couple of attempts to get the mirror aligned properly on the turret so you may end up taking it off a couple of times to adjust the mirror on the turret.

Cheers Steve,

Any idea what size the bolt is that screws into the bush? and maybe the bush size.

The reason I ask is a guy I meet recently is repairing a crashed Griffith and they have what seem like just glued the mirrors on and he would like to put them on properly. Not sure if the bush maybe still in the door.. But there are defiantly no bolts to attach the mirror to with the grub screw.

I can help him out with one bolt as i have a spare door with mirror attached so i can butcher that and get the bolt out if needs be but if i can find out the bolt size/thread then i can leave that job.I guess just a lenght of the right size threaded bolt and then cut to length would do ?

Cheers

The part that screws on to the body carries the turret. It is listed at this link: as Mounting Boss and Wiring Loom

It is not possible to fit the boss and then fasten the mirror and turret on, you have to fasten the mirror to the turret and fasten this to the boss using the grub screw, then screw the assembly to the body. As i said in my previous post its a pain and took a couple of attempts to get the mirror alignment correct when I did mine.

If they havn't got any then the following may have some:-
