Been looking at the pics and youtube and I really hope that they come to Le Mans at some point! It would not have a hard time shouting down the corvettes
Hmm, the loudest I heard at Le Mans were the Marcoses and the McLaren F1s, probably louder than the Vettes. I think the Mazda Rx7 in 94 was very loud and it backfired every lap after coming out of the pits, right beside where we were eating dinner. I've never heard the 767B at full throttle, just as a demo run.
For me, there's no doubt about it: the Mazda 787 of the early '90s was the one for the right noise and at the right decibels. If you have not heard it then you wouldn't know!! One was at the support Group C race for this year's LM 24 heures and, standing near the end of the Pit Straight hearing it after it came out of the Ford Chicanes, the noise on acceleration made my toes curl up!! Possibly for me the most spellbinding LM memory of them all?

The Mazda had a very distinct whining noise & camping in Houx you could hear it above all the other cars in the early hours of the morning....wherever it was on the circuit
However the noisiest car in recent years has to be the Panoz. I remember the first year the Panoz entered & the Radio Le Mans commentators noticed that the cars where having driver changes every 2hrs instead of the more normal 4hrs.
In an interview Radio Le Mans had with, I think it was, Don Panoz they asked the question about the drivers. It appears the noise was so bad inside the cars that the drivers where starting to get double vision & loss of concentration. A driver was also interviewed who likened the noise to putting a metal dustbin over your head & ten men with baseball bats bashing the s
t out of it.....classic
