Hi DragHeads !
After the tragic Darrell Russell accident in 2004,
I think there were talks of a change in TF dragster building specs,
to change the current -twin- rear wing struts to a mid-mount-monostrut.
Just like "Big Daddy" Don Garlits had it on one of his "Swamp rat" dragsters.
I think there were even some tests done, so what came out of it ?
I have never heard anything about this topic or seen cars equipped with one.
( The titanuim "driver shield" around the rear of the rollcage
was another consequence of Russells accident,
this was added to the rulebook, why not the monostrut ? )
Regards,
Benni
P.S.:
the Garlits design was "outlawed" by NHRA if I recall correctly ?

I read that Mike Kloeber and Clay millican(I think) were testing the mono strut again last year.Mike has pretty much tweaked up Garlits design and Has the research rights to the "newer" design if that helps my friend

Don't forget that Rod Fuller ran a mono-strut in testing at Phoenix, February 2007 and ran a 4.490 with it. See the full article:-

(I know the link looks as if it will take you off to a Dale Earnhardt appreciation society web site, well it doesn't! Be brave! Click on it! Go on, go on go on!)

Just an idle thought - and nothing more - it makes you wonder why a top line team like David Powers Motorsport and Rod Fuller would even bother with the testing costs if there was never ever going to be a future in it.. ..
