There was apparently a news article recently saying that the most speeding tickets issues were in the BH postcode area - Poole & Bournemouth. And it doesn't surprise me...

Bolocs, watch out - they're out to get everyone, they have new places to mark out their prey, and they're camping out on our Burger Run route!

Yesterday 9pm at the bottom of evening hill in the layby, there were 2 cheeky yellow-jacketed monkeys playing with their radar/laser gun - waiting to catch any unsuspecting people that come around the corner at the bottom of the hill just slightly too fast having gained speed on the hill. Further up the road the patrol car was flashing it's lights having pulled an Impreza. They were probably looking in both directions.

This morning 7.30am, a scamera van was waiting on lilliput road, also looking up the hill at motorists coming down towards the golf-course. This is the first time I have seen a van here, fair enough there is a school at the top of the hill - but why do they decide to pop out now that schools have closed and it's early on a saturday morning?

I am all up for getting the d1ckheads that blat around way too fast to slow down, and I admit it that sometimes I drive too fast too! But I just don't understand, neither of these 2 places are accident blackspots or dangerous/blind bends (maybe the junction for compton ave across lilliput road is a bit dodgy), no people crossing, drunk people staggering around - are they just out to generate revenue?
Both places you're likely to be paying more attention to where you are driving or checking for other cars rather than checking your speed - If we checked our speedos all the time we'd never be looking at the road, then what would happen!

Am I wrong to be annoyed about this? I was driving sensibly on both occasions and so I'm not annoyed about getting caught or anything.

Maybe thair tacticts are to just be so sporadic that people just don't know where they will be and when, meaning people slow down just incase when they get near one of the target areas???

Anyway, the van is out and about today, probably doing the rounds - will probably move to canford cliffs avenue later, then onto holes bay...oh, and of course they have new laser toys...

Don't get me started on this! What the hell are Police Officers doing hiding by the side of the road at 0730hrs on a Saturday? I can only imagine how many immediate response type calls went unanswered locally last night due to lack of resources. The poor Response Team Officers just can't deal with the volume of calls. Yet low and behold, here are traffic Officers with nothing else to do but catch what, maybe 3 people an hour? They do the same in Essex, I've seen them hiding behind a lampost at the end of the bypass behind the village, on the off chance they may catch a biker out for a morning run before the roads get busy. Just gives us all a bad name...mad

Most people know my POV on this.
I was caught by the Lilliput trap a couple of years back, 9 pm on a deserted sunday night.

I have seen the "build up" in scamer vans recently. Just a coinsidence, I hit a large kerb in the work car park and nocked my front number plate off. I will have to get that put back on.

I've noticed alot more vans around Bournemouth and Poole lately... and also on the A31 near Rufus Stone a few times mid-morning on the way to work in Southampton.

Luckily, all the times I saw them I was well within the speed limits. Saying that, I don't think it would be such a bad thing if my front plate gets knocked-off on a kerb soon! wink

You/ we are all middle-class cash cows and this Labour government will keep screwing every penny they can out of us for ever and a day. You happen to live in a wealthy area, so they know it's easy money.

Don't blame the cozzers - they didn't invent the stupid targets system that's in place now and only serves to perpetuate the nonsense. How many new Prefects (sorry, PCSO's) have you seen padding round BoMo helping old biddies with their shopping vs. new Bobbies on the beat?

Lilliput Road is a daily occurrence for me and I can report the presence of the "Dorset Safety Camera Partnership" is increasingly common just after that bus stop by the golf course pointing back up the hill towards the school.

Apparently an area is considered an accident black spot if 3 serious accidents or fatalities have occurred on that stretch. I haven't witnessed them all but the number of times the fence has required repairing on that bend just by the 7th Tee in the last six years is easily more than 3....

.. and yes.. I am probably one of the (3) accidents that caused the camera to go up westbound before the LV/frizzel roundabout. Thankfully no fatalities but I did cause whiplash to the occupants of a car in front about 11 years ago.

Last Saturday that van was in its usual spot and as I was walking with my family back towards the school I was doing my best pedestain traffic calming signals rolleyes

The scamera used to park on the small pavement above Branksome chine, totally blocking it.

I used to phone the police and complain, telling them that a white van is parked on a pavement and a disabled guy in a wheel chair cant get by.

Doesnt park there anymore.

rofl Quality - I thought the same thing every time I went past it - I haven't seen them there for some time!!

3 points for parking on a pavement don't you know - I got my wrists slapped once when I first had the exige and parked on a pavement whilst chatting to some mates!

Excuse me but i believe the term "dhead" is a Scouse term and unless you have had special permission or indeed have some Scouse blood or heritage then i would politely and respectfully ask you to refrain from using it in the future. I am sure there are lots of terms that you Southern Softies could use instead.biggrin
