Had an enquiry from a client who is building a website, he hopes to generate a database of users details (its a members site / privacy policy / opt out etc all in place) and is estimating 300,000 - 500,000 individual details.

What is a ballpark figure for buying that info / database assuming he can indeed sell the information in the first place.

dependent on amount of info - personal - 15-28p per record commercial 20-100p per lead. capturing insurance or other contract renewal dates would be gold mine

Hi Jon,

Thanks for that,

I can guess what "personal info" is, but what would you class as Commercial?

Thanks,

James

From the amount of junk that lands on my mat I assume More Than has bought most of it, and credit card companies the rest. So if you come across some data for Simpo Two, please skip it because my bin's full.

Its OK I mis-read it, 28p for Joe public, upto 100p per company, Contract renewal dates worth more.

Cheers

There's a company called The Trading Floor that might be worth a look. Basically they hold a master database and will accept your data use it to append/update the master, keep a note of what you've added and you get 50% of any proceeds.

It's a while since I looked into it, and couldn't get my hands on sufficient volumes to make it worthwhile, so I couldn't comment first hand but I do know someone that's doing very nicely out of them!
