TVR Owners Help Needed!
Discussion
Okay everyone here’s the deal!!
For the charity Childrens Hospice South West (www.chsw.org.uk) we need between 20-40 sports / super cars for 3 reasons.
On Saturday 4th of Oct 2008 we would like to gather these cars for a drive though the grounds of the hospice near Barnstaple in North Devon (EX31 2PZ) so that the children can see them, and those who are able to have a sit in and photo taken with the cars, also their parents and siblings.
Then the convoy will move on a couple of miles down the road and park up on Barnstaple town square, which will be quite a sight!
We are looking then to raise money in three ways. A ten-minute ride in one of the cars for a donation to the Hospice (prices to be agreed with car owners), a photo sat in the car of choice, and good old bucket shaking.
Ideally we would like the usual marques, Ferrari, Lambo, TVR, Noble, etc etc, and as many as poss.
It will also serve as a wonderful marketing opportunity for the hospice attracting TV, radio and press.
Also if any car related or relevant business would like to have a presence or dealer would like to bring some demo cars along I am sure we could work something out.
One last avenue of fund raising would be an auction of car related goods / services, so again if any of you good people have any ideas for this I would be most grateful.
I hope you agree it is a very worthy charity, and I do hope you will be able to help.
Thanks for reading this I hope you get your offers in soon.
Thanks
Mark

When this kind of thing was tried locally, political correctness reared it's ugly head.
A background criminal record check for all those who will meet any children.
Then there's people accepting payments for riding in the car. Is there hire and reward cover on many supercar insurance policies?
I wish you every success with raising funds. It's a worthy cause and the sort that I would like to support.
But I suspect you will have problems in jumping through all the PC hoops and leave people open to being sued if you don't. A sad indictment of modern society.

Which would be red rag to a bull for me, and I'd be there in a flash - damn the torpedoes and full steam ahead. Sadly I'm out of the country, but I wish you well, and hope you get what you hope for - damned good cause to be supporting, and a cracking way of bringing out a few smiles.A background criminal record check for all those who will meet any children.

I've put my hand up for this even if it's a 300+ mile round trip. Think of the children!!A background criminal record check for all those who will meet any children.

I would imagine we can dodge the payment thing as I won't be receiving a penny.
Thanks for the concerns and advice HK, we have looked into all these issue and taken advice from people who have been doing a similar thing for 15 years, so we are pretty happy that we might just sneek it under the PC fence! As no one will be asked to pay for rides, simply exchange a donation for a ride, and parties will sign to this effect the insurence issue isn't a problem!
Again thanks for your heads up on these issues though!
