Show me your engine bays!

I need some idea's, I wish to 'tart' up my engine bay over the winter. I'm thinking to paint the rocker covers bright red like the car and paint the inlays of the plenum black or the same color. I'll take some pics of it at the mo and post them on. I've cleaned her up a little, but needs alot more work. So in the mean time, show me you engine bay!!

Best engine bay mod was taking teh 4 litre out and putting a 5 litre in but a bit of red and black paint and some shiny stainless works wonders too!

Joolz a couple of Q's why have you found the need to move the rocker cover vent to down by the wheel and why lag the pipe from the thermostat id have thought every bit of lost heat would help

He's running an open breather, in otherwords it's not connected to the inlet tract. So, won't want any fumes coming into the cock pit Can I claim a prize Joo? No pcv then?

Lukas, those manifolds were manufactured by V8 enhancements for the rover V8 engined cars. Clivef on the Island makes them, they are expensive though. You can get him on the Griffith forum.

Venting breather fumes back into the inlet robs power, but the main reason is that when I modded my plenum with a larger throttle off an AJ6 Jag engine i lost the part of the plenum with the pipe that the breather goes on so just stuck a filter on the end of the pipe. The extra length is just to get any oil drips away from the hottest parts of the exhaust manifolds.

The lagging around the pipe is a throwback to when I had the cats in and I didn't want the radiated heat from glowing cats affecting the rubber pipe whilst running the car on the dyno, I've just never taken it off.

I could claim they were mods for some specific performance orientated purpose but truth is they were just quick fixes.

Ive got an alloy rad and alloy coolant tower to go in yet which should add some more bling

That Manifold looks like it has had a lot of thought put into it relating to back pulses from firing orders, is it a 1 off or do they make a set pattern of manifolds?

I went for a black/grey colour scheme. The exposed aluminium parts are painted a matt silver/grey colour that looks like clean but unpolished aluminium. The exhaust is Satin Black ceramic paint and the chassis/suspension is black POR15. With rocker covers and pulleys in black, and generic blue silicon hoses I think it looks quite smart without trying to be bling. I have a picture here somewhere ...

I notice the rubber seals on the mud guard things. Mine doesn't have them but saw a couple at S Club - is this standard and does it make any difference or just a tidying exercise??

on mine it does close the gap between the front and rear sections of the inner wheel arch when the bonnet closes...

its just that self gripping door trim.

TVR seems to have added them at random during production. Mine originally only had one on the offside, but I added the other. It's the same seal as on the back bit of the roof (common size & relatively cheap). I guess the least they do is stop the two parts of the inner wings clattering together.

I noticed one side of mine was missing at S club so purchased a length from one of the stands and fitted to the missing side - I can see how much is left if you like Jim.

I just happened to have 2 pics of my engine bay, 2 years apart. At least it is encouraging to me as it shows I am making some progress! Most important, the car is now running and being used! Plenty of scope for further tidying yet.



My S1 doesn't have those mudguards, and I can see their value. Anybody got any going, or spares I could copy?
