Had a coolant isssue recently whereby the rad let go big time, lost all coolant, got the car home ok and replaced the radiator yesterday, ran the car to bleed the system and topped up after letting it cool down, did the same thing today and went for a run, fans were working correctly, cutting in and out as they should, washed the car and checked the level in the swirl pot and expansion tank, all ok so job a good un.......or so i thought, when i put the car away i noticed as i parked up outside the garage the fans were running at approx 75 degrees, they normally come on at 90...... put the car away and the fans kept running, went back hours later and put the ignition on,fans started immediatly and kept on running....... any ideas?,normally its problems when they dont run,i doubt letting them run constantly will do them any good.....its a 95 serp 500 by the way,has an overide switch converted from the instrument light switch, has the fan switch on the base of the swirl pot disconected so i guess the fans work off the switch on the radiator,in my experience when these fail the fans dont work..... should i just disconnect this rad fan switch to see if the fans stop, and the switch is therefore the problem?..... basic i know and should have tried this already, but thinking about it afterwards and have left the car till tommorow as im off to work soon

Right the rad fan switch has failed, which is new to me as every one ive ever come across has failed in the closed position where this one is open circuit all the time, where can i get a new rad fan switch from, poss one that is rated slightly differently so the fans come in at say 80 degrees instead of ninety? and why is it called an otter switch instead of just a rad fan switch?

Don't know if you've got 'open' and 'closed' mixed up, but if the switch was 'open' circuit the fans should not be on at all. If it is open circuit and the fans still run then you have either the over ride switch closed or you have a relay stuck on.
Spend used to have a list of all the various otter swiches on his website, if you can still access it

Here you go http://www.parkersteve.dsl.pipex.com/TVR_COOLING_O...
There must be one on here that will suit what you want. If you want a standard one try TVR Supplies on e-bay (Mike, The AJPGriff on here). He's a good guy and will sort you out.
