Just found my crank bros Mallet Cs are wobbling all over the place. I knew that the bearings were a potential issue when I bought them but I didnt expect them to wear so quickly.

The reason I like them however is the platform is quite grippy when not clipped in and they work well in all conditions.

Can anyone recommend me a good alternative - I want to stay with clip in types with a large platform..

If I cant find something its cheap enough for a re-build kit but thought would find some opinions out first..

Used and abused these for years with no problems. Shimano rule for spd type pedals imo

Or a tad smaller

Another one for Shimano. Not the lightest but they are totally bombproof. XTR can be picked up for £50 these days to.

XTR's haven't exactly got the best platform to ride 'on top' though have theywink

Granted, XTR's are the nuts. Mind you, I was gutted to destroy my first set of spd's in 15 years at the Megavalanche - a set of the metal DX ones. I've been trying to get another set of Ebay, but the buggers keep bidding up the prices, so I'm waiting for a bargain. However, luckily, someones selling a knackered set and I'll be able to ressurect my knackered ones biggrin

DX SPDs were and still are, IMHO, the best ever knarly platformed spd pedals...

I used to ride platform a lot... but find my current XTRs on the XC bike are nigh on perfect. Find I can clip in far easier than with platforms, so when I do dab, I clip back in much quicker and easier.

Anyone else similar?
