Is fun,

Been experimenting with the settings and air pressure, Sorry but i am a slight newbie to owning FS bikes (this is my first), As i am a lover allthings Hardtail.

But for longer rides I thought I would save my spine and ar*s a bit of pain.wink

Any words of wisdom from owners of the same shock greatfully recieved.

smile

Its one of these by the way.

Your first job is to read reviews to see whether the suspension design actually requires the Propedal to be turned on.

I know that with the Commencal Meta's, they are so well controlled (i.e. bobbing etc) that they don't require the Propedal shocks.

I'd recommend getting it PUSH'd by TFTuned - it makes more of a difference and you get a much improved feeling shock over standard...Additionally, getting Tim to do it removes the need for fettling as he tunes it all for your weight, riding style and type of suspension design...

IMHO mind you, but pretty much everyone who's had a Fox PUSH'd raves about it.

Thanks neil thats sound advice, I have used Tim at TF tuned before for sorting some very tired forks, he was excellant, so I will be considering sending him the shock for a service.

Did a nightride last night, so far I impressed with the ride.

Sorry Pastrana72, but I've only just seen you thread.

I wouldn't bother getting the RP3 Push'd - to be honest I wouldn't get Push'd retro fitted to any Shox as it is disproportionally expensive. It's not that much more to buy a new Push'd RP23 from TF and you can partial fund the purchase by selling the RP3.

I found that setting up the RP23 on my Hustler that I needed alot more psi than the Fox 'guide' suggests - 205psi - which I put down to the suspension design. I did flick on the Pro Pedal a couple of times in Morzine - trying all three settings - and found that I didn't really need it. This maybe because I have a smooth pedaling style but I'm currently happy to ride without it.

Alternatively, You could look at getting a coil Fox DHX 5.0. This seems to be a very popular upgrade / change and that's the route I'm thinking of going over the next few months (I have coil Pikes up front). There's a few Hustler owners over on STW that have done this and they love the results.

Incidentally, the Push'd RP23 is a brilliant shock.

ETA - It sounds like wee need to organise a 'Cove' photo shoot!!

I suppose that it depends how 'light' you want the bike to be.

Thats a good point - Tim is very good value when it comes to buying new stuff from him - my Fox Van 32's were pretty much standard price but fettled and rebushed by Tim before I recieved them.

I'd go with what Mk1Fan says biggrin however I disagree slightly with his comment about the cost; if you look at getting a shock serviced, to get it Push'd is not that much more, and the internals (as getting Push'd essentially replaces pretty much everything internally) are really good quality and last for donkeys years. Additionally, the attention to detail is stunning, and whilst you could say that may not notice it so much over a normal rebuild, the longevity is apparent over a normal bebuild.

It is my understanding that to Push an RP3 it costs £120 plus the cost of the service which makes it £200 in total. A new Push'd RP23 is £320 iirc.

I got my Pikes Push'd and it was only £50 ontop of the service.

Nah - I think you'll find it's £120 straight as PUSHing it involves a complete rebuild including new seals etc anyway.

There is a cheaper option of £95 without new seals, which you'd use if you bought a new shock elsewhere and had it PUSHed before installing it, or alternatively bought a new bike and sent the installed shock off to be PUSHed before riding it.

Best option is to buy new from TF and have it PUSHed as part of the deal - it effectively sets you back only £30 doing it that way (e.g. RP23 is £300 new from TF, or £330 pre-PUSHed)

Pretty sure that I paid £120 for full service and PUSH'ing also. Like Pete says, its essentially the same thing, so you wouldn't pay twice as it were.

Agree though, buring new and already PUSH'd direct from Tim is the best way, plus you get it all spangly like, and Tim at your service biggrin

Felt quite cool when I had brand new 'tweaked' Van 32's and PUSH'd Float rear for my Meta, by god did it feel nice lick

I've a pushed RP23 on my Five (soon to be retired/mothballed) it really has been excellent, I bought it new from TF already pushed. Not that it helps the OP smile

Thanks for all the feedback, Spent some time studying the TFTuned website,

Pushed Fox RP3 looks intresting, for the time being I have got the bike feeling quite good (in my opinion), I am going get some ride feed back from some friends who ride FS all the time to say how they think it feels, (once they get over the shock I am not riding a hardtail) and then spend some time getting some trails done on the hustler.

Then once I have got some use out of the hustler, I will get Tim to push the shock, or maybe get the coil version MK1 Fan suggested.

Still Riding My HJ a lot, as it is so fun. Also I do not think it will be long before I get round to building up my stiffee in a lighter spec than before.

Thanks everyone.
