A little help please
Discussion
Hi,
Well today i decided to tidy up my wiring, bad idea. At the same time i have removed the alarm/immobiliser so as to replace it with a better one.
Having removed it and re connected all the wires i could find, i cant start it. It turns over but tests show no power to the ignition coil. Even hot wireing the coild to the battery doesnt do the trick.
So short of calling in an auto electrician, i'm a bit stuffed.
Any help will be great.
Thank you.

Hi Ian
I had a similar problem when I removed my alarms (there were two old ones) and it turned out to be a wire from the fusebox looped to the drivers footwell where it had been simply twisted together before looping over to the coil - must have been a switched connection at some stage... the twist had undone so I had no power to the coil. Maybe you have removed the supply to the alarm which was switched for supplying to the coil, you will need to make that connection again...
perhaps the fuse has blown in the meantime and if you still have no supply to the coil it could be the ignition module on the side of the dissy.
if you have a supply to the coil try earthing it to see if you get a spark, if not then your coil is suspect.
good luck

thanks everyong for the help.
Well i have tested the coil and i get 12v if i test between battery + and coil. I've taken out the dodgy 4 pin conection on the ignition and soldered the wires.
Still no spark, i also have a green wire that comes from the coil into the passenger footwell that is on a socket that's not connected to anything??? if i work out how to put a pic up i'll show you. basically its black and about 9pins and square. Any ideas?
i'm struggling to keep the entusiasm! but got today off work which was a result!
Cheers

Top tip.
If you want an expert and a good alarm system complete with an immobilser, look no further and contact the great man himself, Carl Baker, well known to all TVR models and owners. I believe his website is called - Car and Bike installations. He fitted mine VERY professionally two years ago, comes highly recommended, they don't come much better than him. Good luck! And NO I am not on a retainer!!
Cheers

Well i've take all the immobaliser out. The car turns over, but no spark.
Fuel pump is working and all other circuits work, only thing that is apparently still 'immobalised' is the ignition coil.
Even had the RAC out today, and they dont have a clue.
Heres a question. Can i just wire the coil straight to the battery? Will is damage the coil? Just to test if it will run??
Cheers

No No No, this will not help, the coil requires a switching circuit not a constant supply.
What engine do you have? if its the same as mine you need to run one wire from the distributor supply (the switching one) and the other comes from the rev counter. Bear in mind that you will have to disconnect the current wires completely as these may be leaking to earth. I will look up the thread that i used when i has a similar problem.

Well,
under the dash drivers side, theres a spare connector to power i assume an extra dial. well one of them has a plain white wire, and the other has a white/yellow wire(the control wire to the coil).
well guess which one good ole 'stupid of surrey' pluged it into???
and on top of that, my fuel pump diode was broken inside the wire.
really great advice everyone, cheers.
