Car stalling

Hi Guys me again, i am sure its the hot weather but after owning Porsches for 20yrs this is all new to me.

Car was at temperature and it stalled and then when i re started it didnt start straight away had to rev it, then when i finally got going, it stalled again when coming up to traffic lights and i pressed the clutch to cruise into the lights when it cut out and wouldnt hold the revs, so had to start and hold the revs higher with the accel.

Left it for about an hour and it works fine now.

Any help would be appreciated

Stephan,
It sounds like it either needs a service or 20 minutes on a laptop to re-balance eveything and set up the idle (it should be around 900-950 rpm).

Don't be talked into adjusting it yourself - it only masks the problem.

Did you have your aircon on as this drops the idle speed by 100/150rpm? If so you may need to adjust your tick over

How many miles do people expect between these tune up's?

I seem to get about 1500 miles before I need the idle adjusted (albiet I had it serviced about 4000 miles ago) so thats two tune up's with a full service end of this month coming.

It does of course depend on the type of use. Our Tamora is after around 2500 miles (so one in between services), the Sagaris used to get one very 1000 miles or so. That said, its only a 20 minute job to do so for me its not worth not doing it.

Just had a similar problem with Dots Tamora. The fault was traced to a broken wires on the water and air temperature sensors. Easy fix.

Hi Guys the car is with David Hendry in Malmsbury my nearest TVR dealer, should be picking it up later and heading onto the Rising Sun in Lacock for my first TVR meeting, trouble free hopefully and nicely tuned

As Dave (NTEL) has said, hopefully they'll check your water temp switch.

Just had mine on the laptop for basic tune up & throttle bodies balancing at Track v Road - whilst watching readouts, without warning temp read out jumped 10degs a couple of times in short succession of a few seconds.

Car was becoming a pain to keep ticking over on cold start up - is firing up and running sweet again.

These cars do have a nasty habit of going out of tune every 1000 -1500 miles so maybe a good idea to do as Varleyhyd has previously suggested and as Tvr owner is suggesting?

Hi Guys good news and bad news, ideling sorted, engine is 100 percent.

Bad news is i need a new clutch and master cylinder and starter motor.

It was becoming very hard to change gear but when warmed up seemed to be smoother i thought it a trait of TVR just like the older Ferraris.

No such luck, they are saying dont drive it until change because it could let you down anytime, what peoples view on that, i was hoping to use it at the wkend and go upto the motor show in london.

I have got them to order the parts but it will be 2-3wks before they are in.
