Well, I've fitted the new expansion tank cap (Cheers Adam) and it seems to be working really well, coolant gets sucked back in through the one way valve, which didn't happen on the old one.

However, I pulled up to refuel today, and there was a little steam coming from under the bonnet.

Looks like the Heater control valve is weeping. Does anyone know what it's from?

I've searched the forums, and I've seen reference to Chimps using the Mk1 VW Golf one, but this has the actuator arm moving parallel to the coolant flow. Mine seems to be perpendicular... Any info would be welcome. in the meantime I guess a bit of straight pipe to bypass the leaky valve is in order.

Cheers Jeff. I've got the old one off, and added a bit of pipe to replace it.

I'll take the old one into a local motor factors and see what I can dig up.

Might as well put a central heating bleed valve in as well like we talked about @ BBWF.

Might have forgot to mention to add a joint piece to the T to clamp the hose onto. You know the bit?

Linky for illistration only

I would also add that on the previous cars mentioned I am not sure they were OE but what is.

Got a valve from GSF, part number 17850, £9.50 +VAT.

Just had to modify it slightly.

Drilled out the cable attachment hole to 4mm to fit the cable pivot from the old valve.

Also have to remember that hot is now cold and cold is now hot ! as the valve works the other way.
