Gave her a good boot today and the throttle went light. Investigations show a broken torsion spring on the end of the offside throttle body.

1) Is it safe to drive?
2) Where do I get a new one?
3) How do you replace it?

NO don't drive it as it is!

I have an extra spring to the two torsion ones, that pulls the whole linkage back fitted to my car.

The worst thing that can happen to your car is half way there!
If the throttle sticks open on you another AJP will be no more, or worse we could all be mourning you next week!!

Agreed, don't run it before you get a big spring on it. The AJPV8 throttle butterflies can get stuck open at full chat with the air flow if you don't have enough spring and the engines can just rev until they blow!!! I know!!eek Get a long more normal spring attached, but make sure it can't catch on anything!

Was it fun when it went/you noticed?

Mine went somewhere before a round-about on a motorway slip.

It was early doors and I was making progress, hit the roundabout at a speed at the higher end of my ability, came off the throttle... bless her, she accelerated harder into the corner than I'd ever been.

Pants changed, pennies spent on a new spring, all was right with the world - luckily.

Call Clevor Trevor and you'll have a new spring the next day - buy two.

My one was down the Lavant Straight at Goodwood, came off the pedal onto the brake and the accelerator pedal stayed flat to the floor, carried on accelerating!! Had to stop so pushed in the clutch and tried to press the kill switch at the same time, broke the crank in three places and disintegrated the pistons, never found half of one of them?
