I've stayed in 3 of these hotels and they have all been fantastic. Never in the city, always in a village or out in the countryside and with top notch restaurant. Some of them are a bit pricey but I've always had a twin room for under a 100 Euros a night.

Otherwise you can always use Google maps and search on hotel in the region your thinking of staying.

Steve, I do agree with those comparing a F1 to Travelodge...
These hotels are ugly and in depressing areas... This is not what I would recommend for a rally !
I do myself organise rallyes for groups of 25 to 30 cars in France.
B&Bs can be really nice but are limited to 5 rooms maximum, so it's an issue when dealing with more cars.
I think Logis de France is by far the best option for quality / price ratio... as they are widespread all over France, combine good locations with affordable food and are generally very traditionnal or even old fashionned... in a way very French ! Most have a car park.
Some might not speak good english though...

Having dinner in house is nicer as people can drink without the fear of 'gendarmes'.
I generally negociate for a 2-3 star a package combining night + parking + breakfast of around 35 € / person / night. With dinner included (with wine), you can do a deal at 60-70 € / person I think.
The best way to check for hotels is Michelin guide I think. Look for restaurants with a bib, some are real bargains and offer very nice food.
As usual, the deeper you go in countryside, the cheaper it will be... For instance, going to Limousin, Creuse or Haute Loire will bring fantastic and empty roads, beautiful landscape and really affordable nights !

Without doubt I'd go for the Logis de France. Go here and plan your trip and book in advance - most have about 15 rooms at least but check each individual hotel. They do a superb free book of every hotel in the chain and it's well worth having. It gives all relevant details including room numbers but - book early because they tend to have a faithful following. The food is always good since this is an association of family owned hotels, not a soulless conglomerate.
