Specter Werkes Corvette

Corvette takes a walk on the wide side...

If ever there was a car that Batman might turn down for being 'a bit OTT' it would have to be the Specter Werkes Corvette GTR. The Michigan-based tuner has taken the perfectly good Corvette C6 and given it the wide body treatment, stiffer suspension and a wider track.

There are performance packages available (which will compensate for the extra weight we are guessing) and the standard LS3 can be increased from 6.2L to 6.8L. The company has slapped on a set of new rims (19" front/ 20" back) with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Zero Press tyres.

There are Stop Tech 15" slotted brake discs and six pistons up front and 14" and four piston calipers at the rear. Other extras include carbon fibre details inside and out and custom paint schemes. This car is painted in BASF liquid silver colour, while the inside gets GTR-standard embroidered seats.

The conversion starts at $34,995.

Yup,
I like that smile But then again. I liked the Batcar from Batman Forever - so my vote is automatically void.

Don't know why, but I read that first as 'Specter Wrecks Corvette'!

...which looking at it, would perhaps be a more-appropriate headline!

I think painted jet black this would look pretty good - I'd still be a bit embarassed to own one but I could definitely see the appeal

I think its a bit like a cross between a Saleen S7 and a SLR Mercedes, but not really the best bits....

Gilding the lily? Uh, rather, dipping the lilly in superglue and sprinkling it with glitter and rhinestones. If you want to make a car look fast, make it look like a racer...and I've never seen a racer than looks like this. That thing has to have more drag than San Francisco.

Not really a fan but the 6.8 is quite interesting, I always thought that you could over-bore a small-block Chevy by a maximum of .3 of a litre before running into trouble has it been stroked to get the extra .2?

Maybe I'm talking crap, I know the LS7 is 7 litres but the block isn't the same as the LS3.

Looks horrible, if they really wanted to improve the vette a subtle bodykit and completely retrimmed interior + power, susp and brake upgrades would be the better choice, rather than this horrid bodykit that ruins what is a nice looking as standard car

So let me get this straight - because it doesn't look good that automatically means rappers will love it?! Oh please! That's as silly as the people who's taste you've feebly attempted to ridicule. rolleyes

From that comment you obviously have NO idea of the type of cars LA rap stars like to drive - they're far more likely to drive an SUV (Escalade, Hummer etc), "low-rider" (don't know what that is? Google it!) or some European/British exotica over one of these... and very likely they'd own all of the above.

Furthermore, if there WAS gonna be a Chevy in their car collection it'd be most likely a sixth-generation model, '94-'96 year Impala SS.

Yeah... From my time trolling around the forums, people seem to automatically judge who will own these cars. Ugh! Grow up a bit! Hard to imagine grown men (kind of doubt it though) saying things like this, rather sad.

The car is different, it's most likely insanely fast, and you won't be able to afford one, appreciate the work put into it, atleast.
