It's renewal time, and I've spent the last 12 months with Adrian Flux.

Admittedly, I've not had to claim, so my experience of them has been fairly positive.

However, by this time next year, I rather hope that my (currently as-factory) 55 plate Exige will have a forced induction solution, uprated brakes, accusump, oil coolers, and ARB.

Can anyone recommend insurers that will react positively (and not in a wallet-raping way) to modifications being carried out during the policy?

Track day cover included would be an awesome bonus.

Cheers,
Tol

I ended up with Aplan. Quite open to mods but no TD cover. I'm paying <£500 for a NA S2 Exige with modded engine, exhaust, interior and body (stripes). Over 35 in good postcode, garaged etc etc

We are also with Aplan, very good price- with mods, however when the docs turned up there was a clause that said when the car was left in a public place with the roof off, it was not covered- don't recall the exact wording, anyway I left it as it was just to save phoning round quotes again.

I am with A Plan too. I added my 2bular part way through the year and to add it with decat pipe was only £25 which i thought was not to bad. The actual policy is with Norwich Union.

I went with Richard Eggar (policy is with Chaucer) who don't seem that bothered about mods- I changed my steering wheel recently and rang to let them know- the woman said the insurer only really gets bothered when you Lotus owners start dropping Hondas in the back!! I'd be surprised if an induction kit registered to be honest. It's a sportscar policy not just an ordinary car policy with good rates.

They also cover 4 trackdays in the first year for an extra £50 provided it's booked with one of their recognised trackday providers (the list is quite extensive too.)

I pay £650 for 7k miles inc commuting cover, provided the work car park is 'secure'.

I'm with Chris Knott on an S1, with S2 suspension, induction kit and Janspeed it's about £800. The mods didn't really add anything to the price, I'm 22 and in a decent area, including commuting.

Yee haa!

Give CCI a call, when I renewed standard policy for the elise includes windscreen cover and 4 free track days, reduced rate thereafter. Very mod friendly, although premium steps up if you have 200bhp+

An update on this for anyone else insurance-shopping - Flux, Richard Egger and CCI were all within a few pence on premium, Heritage were £100 pricier, all with similar mileage and excess amounts.

Flux didn't include any track days.

What clinched it for me between CCI and Egger was the mod-friendliness of Egger - non bhp-increasing mods all free, and one 10% premium hike allows any and all other mods, supercharger, honda swap, whatever (!).

Thanks for the input when the thread was new,

Bloody Hell! I just rang Richard Eggar for a comparison, £339.55 xs £300 including 4 track days, 5000 miles PA, garaged. Thats £100 less than I pay right now without track day cover!

My renewal cam through from Aplan at £10 more than last year, £676. Made some calls and CCI including Track day cover, 5,000 miles was £450 including all my mods biggrin

Call Aplan back and they said they would match it but no track day cover. Also CCI is with Norwich Unions and Aplan was Grouparmo.
