Sold the Chim last week after three months on the market. Gone to a good home at a reasonable price.
I would have happily kept it, maybe I'll buy it back one day!

Is it me or that I see a few cars that have come on in the last few days in fact that seem a bit lower priced than many others... I noticed on Tuscan speed 6, Griffith, Chimaera and Cerbera.

That'll be people that need to sell their cars - increasingly common in this financial climate. They have no option but to price their car lower than the neareast equivalent if they want to improve the likelihood of theirs selling quickly.

The way I see it, there are two ways of pricing a car:

1) What someone else will pay for it
2) What I'll take for it

In a seller's market, 2 prevails. In a buyer's market, 1 prevails. Because TVRs are luxury items, but limited in supply, they hold their value quite well, but are the first to go when times are hard. If you need to sell your car, you'll have to sell it for what someone else will give you. On the other hand, if you want to buy my car, you'll have to give me what I want for it, as you'd have to persuade me I actually wanted to sell it!

I also think you also need to offer some help to potential purchasers. I accepted a px for mine which worked out really well for me. I needed a car to replace my Cerb and I knew that most PH members own nice performance cars. It saves potential buyers the hassle of selling their car first. So the right type of px came along just after 1 week. After viewing and negotiating I ended up with top money for my Cerb and the px at almost trade value - which meant I could sell her on without loss if I wanted. As it happens I'm very happy with the px and will be keeping it. The interest I got in just over 1 week was amazing, with 4 px queries and 1 cash buyer. Well worth thinking about as TVRs are a very niche market.

Agreed

Pxd my Chimaera for a BMW325 convert
Used it for a season and sold it on without loosing too much in the deal

Much easierthan holding out for the cash.

However if you dont want another "performance" car in PX times are much harder
