Glad you're having that rot in the lower rear wing and both doors sorted - are they having a dig around the floorpan at the front too? there's a lot of underseal in those areas too. I look forward to seeing it in its full glory on 23rd August.

Where are they based Leslie ? Sarah will be looking and sounding great after this. I also liked the shot blasted and treated work you had done on your frame at Robertos.

Hmm, the inner wing on both sides of my front wheel arches has failed. There has been so much paint applied, in stages, that the car is looking like a patchwork quilt.

I've yet to bite the bullet though. I wonder whther it might make more sense to get it done back at the factory, due to the cheaper labour rates?

How much research did you do Leslie?

sounds like a good deal, full repaint mandatory on red cars as it is mofo to match. Good price too, if it is a bare metal, glass out job. Hope to see you at Rob Grimaldi's shop.

C and N customs are a really great family run business. They have so far painted the following for my family. Lamborghini Countach Anniversary and a Nissan Skyline R33 GTR with fantastic results. In September they will be respraying my Diablo Roadster and in all my 56 years on this planet are the only spray shop that I trust and I have certainly used many others. They will give Leslie's Urraco a proper paint job unlike the previous idiots who tried to do it. I also know of 2 other Lambos and possibly a 3rd that they will be redoing in the very near future.

Good on you for doing a proper job. You may not get your money back in the short term, but you're saving a car from a slow and miserable death. Without people taking on these sort of tasks, cars like this will just disappear. Before we know it we'd all be saying I've not see one of those for ages only to find out they're extinct.

...good point Phil - there are quite a few LCUK people who make it their 'mission' to ensure various Lamborghinis survive and survive as well as possible no matter what that costs...

We have one chap who bought a Series 1 Espada a few years ago for a few shillings shy of about £6k as I recall and has funded that car's refurbishment to a level where it's worth every penny and more of whatever the press say the best should be worth (which is usually nothing like current trading values but, hey-ho ...)

As Leslie knows, that Espada is eye-wateringly perfect in most respects but it's cost the owner at least £45k to make it so...

As the owner of that car would say, "it's done for the sake of the car and the marque and to make sure that at least one survives" - he never expects to get his money back, tho' he may well with a refurb as good as that and the route that Lamborghini prices are still heading despite all the gubbermunt-clown and media-muppet driven credit crunch b*ll*x!

As far as Sarah the Urraco is concerned, it's interesting to see the various undressed shapes of the bodywork - you can always see the real intentions of the car's designer when that happens... especially when viewed from square-on to the front imo.

Dave's right about that front end view, looks really good.
shame about the legislation that made bumpers necessary (only talking from an aesthetic perspective of course...the safety side is understood)

Leslie, you must be seriously excited about getting her back mate, be like having a new car!

... the earlier Urracos had very elegant chromed bumper-ettes really - a bare 'nod' to safety reg.s at the time... When seen in isolation, they just look skinny and shiny and very, very little... and about as crash resistant as a thin strip of chrome and thinner strip of rubber like one of them Jaramas has...

Some (not all!) of the later 3.0 Urracos cars tended to have wobbing great big slabs of profiled rubber instead so that they could be sold in the USA. I'm half sure that the earlier spec. chrome bumpers can be retrofitted to later 3.0's, shame that's not a viable option for some US spec. Countachs fitted with those hideous great blocks or much of an option for very late Espadas with bumpers that seem to just 'overshoot' thier fittings somehow...

These slabby bumpers on Urracos were slightly-better integrated with the Silhouette and the Jalpa as people were becoming used to more outlandish shapes from Lamborghini... Certainly, by the late 1970s and early 1980s the Countach was already well established as the very essence of the shocking, outrageous and in-yer-face car.

That 'shock and awe' factor is something that has been equalled by Lamborghini since in many ways, slightly-approached by others as of a few years ago but never, ever surpassed... imho, of course...

Leslie - please keep this thread going with more pix of Sarah as she gets her clothes put back on - at least we all know she looks good naked but will look even better in her new party frock!!

I have always found that older Italian cars tend to look very elegant with the bumpers removed while they are being restored/painted. Tends to show the car in a more natural light and allows one to notice every contour. At least modern day car designers have learned to intergrate the bumpers more seamlessly whereas the 80's produced some truly ugly rubber bumpers. We won't even start on the 'impact' bumpers floating around in the States.

And nothing beats the excitement of seeing your pride and joy in it's finished colours fresh out of the paintshop. And then begins all the polishing. I am sure it will be worth it and the car will look ace.

...and Leslie knows what Lambo polishing is all about after many a year spent doing just that at LCUK events!

He has even turned it into a defence mechanism when patrolling Lamborghinis on public display...

Getting that bit too close to a Lamborghini will get you gently nudged out of the way as a very tall lad polishes and dusts his way in front of you... and back again if you don't get the message at first...
