Help please. throttle pot balanced car won't run
Discussion
assuming this is a 4.2: engine off, immobilizer off (mil light on and car whistling)
1) disconnect the linkage bar from the passenger side throttle and back the idle screw (driver's side) all the way off.
2) set the throttle pots to 15
3) adjust idle screw until tpot2 (I think, driver's side) is about 18
4) connect linkage bar and adjust until the other tpot is 18.
this will give you a good starting point.

If everything else is showing ok on the lap top then I just set the throttle pots so the adaptives are as close to zero as possible (once car is up to running temp-90'ish) If the pots are showing equal numbers with adaptives as close to Zero as possible then should be OK. If when you run the car it is still not perfect then change the trottle pots and reset again. Works for my AJP V8! Reset your fault history as well.
the car obviously ran with the silly high throttle pot reading, so set both throttle pots high and then at least you'll have the engine running ..
then once it's up to temperature start to gradually ease both throtle pots back to something sensible like 17% .. do it in say 2% stages and do the banks alternately and leave the engine running all the time ..
by the time youve adjusted one pot the other will be trimming close to it's load site .. then go do the other bring in-line with the first, then it will start trimming close it its load site.. go back to the first again and move that back 2% again etc etc until youre back down eventually to 17%. If at any point the engine stalls, open the idle screw 1/4 turn and start all over again. eventually you'll get the car idling, the pots at something sensible, and then you can go on to work out what you need to do to get it closer still ..
if you dont understand any of the above, leave it to someone who can set it up for you, but if you use the above method you should get somewhere close within ten minutes or so with the engine hot.
