390SE Outrigger Repair Costs
Discussion
Hello all, still on the quest to find my perfect wedge.
Went to see a cracking wedge at the weekend, Unfortunately there was some fairly bad corrosion on the front outriggers and quite possibly much worse lurking behind the sills.
Does anyone know approximately how much wonga it would set me back to have the outriggers replaced? I believe the sills are not removable on the 390, unlike the 350 and therefore would be a body off job?

You can lift the body enough to do them.
Try a search on here and (possibly) www.tvrwedgepages.
Mine had them done that way, and the body-fixing plates renewed.

I've done this job and provided you can get the sills off it isn't too bad. Mine were held on with pop rivets and mastick
I did both sides. Got the tubing and plate from a local supplier. Got them to cut the plates to size on a guillotine.
Can't remember exact cost but tubing and plate was under £50 and my mobile welder charged me something like £200. That's around £125 a side. If you're prepared to get the tubing and do all the work (except the welding) yourself you can save a few bob.
Expect the car to be off the road for a week or so. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send some pictures -before
and after
Hope this helps

As a guide - £600 to £1000... from a garage.
Is that for a 350/390, I'm a fabricator/welder by trade and whilst I've never done the job I would have thought 4-6 hours would be enough. Or is that price including a body lift on a 400 ?.Edited by rev-erend on Wednesday 30th July 12:41

How do you fend off all the customers ?

Oh to be able to weld (properly), and to understand electrical things.
