thinking of changing from 335d to rs4 what mpg to expect
Discussion
Ive just put my beemer 335d up for sale/px rs4 in p/h classifieds as I fancy a change and keep coming back to an Rs4. as we only do 10,000 miles a year max , mpg isnt really an issue but would be interested in knowing what Im going to get round town and on a steady run.
thanks in advance.
thanks in advance.
When on auto choke for around the first 3 miles you will see 16 mpg. When the car warms up and around town you will see 19mpg. On a long run on a motorway this will increase to around 25mpg. I would work on an average of around 19mpg. My car was showing 17mpg overal when I sold but I did alot of short journeys. Its not too bad considering a borrowed my fathers 535d m sport and over a period of 3 days on the same journeys his trip was showing 26mpg.
Fantastic cars, have a look on rs246.com and swat up about the drc system and its problems and make sure you question the seller about it. Good luck.

Why did you buy a 335d in the first place if you only do 10k a year?
because at the time I wanted a quick and economical car that ticks all boxes and a 350bhp Bmw diesel does that for me better than anything else Ive ever driven, performance wise Ive had it against an Rs4 with very suprising resuts and plus side with the bm is on a run I can get 45mpg.. biggest deciding factor was At the time I bought the beemer, rs4s were £50k where as now they have fell out of bed bigtime they sound like good value for money. so Is 25 as good as it gets or is there any chance of getting late 20"s on a run with an Rs4 then ?

And they are not about to stop falling too....Edited by JeffC on Wednesday 30th July 17:43
Lots of RS4's were bought I suspect on credit or a remortgage. There are plenty of them around. Wait 10 minutes and they'll be even cheaper...
I note that the prices of used RS6's are falling like they have a large anvil attached to them. A quick look on Autotrader is pretty scary.
I am actually toying with buying an RS6 so I have been watching with some surprise how fast they seem to be plummeting. No reason to doubt RS4's won't go the same way.

You may have been cheaper going for the petrol, I know what I would choose if I were only doing 10k per annum.

another reason for change is I sell Audi diesels for a living and get a lot of " if audis are so good why do you drive a bmw"

Would your 335d not be quicker than the RS4 in the 'real world'?
]never driven one , in the real world it is more livley than M3s Ive owned, and slightly quicker side by side, had it along side an Rs6 and was quicker than that, and had a spirited blast with an Rs4 and was about a car length in straight line speed from a 2nd gear rolling start up to 1**mph on a private road. exiting corners was a different story, Rs4 was uncatchable.
Im prob better off in what I have just fancy a change and nothing else appeals at the mo.
If they will get 25mpg on a decent run that will be fine, 18 round the town is about 10mpg worse than swmbo gets on the school run in the beemer as petrol is now cheaper it shouldnt cripple me to fuel one.

I see 25mpg at a steady 75mph (on the dial so 70 really officer). 22 when pushing on, 15 around london.
Thoroughly recommend them though, go for one with SS+ if you can.
exactly the same figures as mine. On the other point personally I don't like the SS+ not worth it for the comparative harshness it brings to the ride v times you'd notice it in the corners, but its each to their own I guess.Thoroughly recommend them though, go for one with SS+ if you can.
I've never seen better than 25mpg, and average about 17.
I'm underwhelmed by sports suspension. Maybe the absolute limits are higher, finding them on the road would be suicidal, but a lumpy B-road will really shake your fillings out.
No.
