I've been actively looking for a Cerbera, 4.2 or 4.5, since June and I'm absoluetly lost and really need some help. I did post for advice here in June, http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a... but now need some more help please so I can again re-join the TVR family.

Reading more and more of the threads and searching the classifieds I really can't work out whats best, there are some Cerbera's here for less than 10K and with 30 - 40K miles on and are advertised with full TVRSH. I assume they are cheaper, normal price seems to be about £12-15K, as they are either very dirty or the colour combination is bad. I've been caught with that before with a Racing Green Cerbera with Black Interior and Gold Alloys !!!!

Also how much will a warranty cost me and where would i get one from? My last car came from a dealer and i sold it before the warranty ran out.

Finally, do I need to find a car that's already had some engine rebuild done?? If so what???

Ideally, I'd like another 4.2, with the newer style seats and headlights, full history and without the battered drivers seat (btw - can these be repaired)

Also, I've looked at a lot of Tuscan ad's which may be an option. Were there two varients, 4.0 and 4.0S?? Was the S the 400 BHP sub 4 second model?

Any help would be appreciated....... I am missing out on the summer and want to be back in the family

Grab a drink and write away with any help you can wink

Thanks - the yellow ones looks great.

Who do you recommend for any warranty that I could buy after getting the car?

So whats wrong with that?, its the best colour combination you can get, (biased of course) black interior will look good far longer than any of the pimpish cream interiors of later cars as they get grubby!

Apparently green cars are worth less on the 2nd hand market. Black interior is great. There is green cerb in the classifieds here but under £9K

maybe its under 9k for other reasons rather than the fact its green, I have never heard anything to suggest green Cerbs are worth less!?

It's very unlikely you'll get your perfect choice (especially when you specifiy unmarked seats) and looks like you've decided on a 4.2.

Don't tear your hair out about upgrades that you may never use.

Go for the best condition, required colour-combination that you have budgeted for.

Go through the history records with the seller (who will love to discuss it until dawnbreak) then from the documents and her/his attitude you'll know if it's been looked after.

Then ENJOY

Thanks very much..... I think I agree just visit a few and see what the owners are like. I had thought about just buying one that maybe a distance away and getting it collected and delivered but perhaps not the best idea!!!! There a lovely looking ornage one on here which maybe an option, but 4.5 lick

Also, I've seen a really nice looking Tuscan, 21K miles for under 10K spin but seems to good to be true and am trying to work out the difference between the 4.0 Speed Six, 4.0S and 4.0R? Any ideas, or shoudl I just get a proper TVR as most people seem to say the Cerb is, must say I loved the old one and now wish I'd kept it.

Edited to add; Whats all this about Cerbs going for under £10'000?

Why do I feel like I have an devil on one shoulder saying "Do it. Do it!". And an angel on the other saying "shout Step away from the classifieds!"
