Hi all. I notice that a lot of people on here watermark their images with nice, subtle logos. I was wondering if this is done automatically within Lightroom or whether it has to be done manually. I've been through the Adobe's help website but it doesn't seem to have any information on it. I've managed to get text on there, but not images. You do seem to be able to add an "Identity Plate" in print mode, but this isn't carried across if you then export. I'm assuming I'm missing something here!

I hadn't even thought of plugins. I didn't even know they were supported in Lightroom. Thanks for that. smile

I put my URL on in PS by hand because I like to adjust position, orientation, colour and edge to suit the image. It takes a minute extra but looks nicer.

By doing it in photoshop do you need to create a copy to edit so you have both a watermarked and non-watermarked version, or do you just add a layer and turn it on and off as necessary with each image? I'm still amazed there's nothing built in. I'd have thought quite a lot of people would use it.

I make mine as a text layer then combine them - it's not a 'watermark' as I think you mean. Yes, someone could crop it off and steal it but my web images are only 800px wide so there's not much they can do with them. ATEOTD anyone can just do a screen grab so I don't think anything's secure.

I found a bit of free software on download.com called Faststone.

It gives you several options to prepaare your picture for whatever reason, mainly for "securing it" I use it to process a batch of photos at a time, I usually resize them, add a frame, and add text at the same time, I then point them to a new folder within the folder of the other one names stamped, so I have a small stamped version and a large finished product.

Just a quick update to say I've tried this plugin now and it's quite good. It does other stuff as well as watermarking. The most useful extra for me is being able to create borders during the export process, which is nice. smile

I've been using it for that exact reason. I don't have tattyshop on this laptop, but I do have LR, so that made life a bit more simple. Bit annoying that it's restricted to 9 at a time, but that's shareware for you.
