Matt,

I found you a much better thermostat that will help your engine run a little cooler - this one opens at 74 degrees and has a larger .. no just read the blurb biggrin

Looks like a very good summer stat - if anyone uses their car in winter a lot then an 82 degree stat will help keep the heater hotter..

Exactly what I do - 74deg. in Summer and 82deg. in Winter. Never have heat problems, even on track-days, although even with the higher temp. 'stat in Winter, it still runs a little cool.

7.

Totally agree - used to do that with my first car (Austin A35) .. helped it run a bit warmer on the snowy rally stages of Camberley.

Our first family car was a shiny black A30...brand new...1955.
That was in Malaya, and I think the forces got a discount.

When I look at one now it tickles me that us three kids fitted on that little back seat.

My dad took it right up to 50mph one day, which we found tremendously exciting. hehe

The original Minis were disguised by using A35 front ends when out road testing.
