New Lotus V8 owner
Discussion
Yesterday I took delivery of a leftover 2001 Lotus Esprit. Yes, I still got the 2yr factory warranty! It was updated with all the 2002 model stuff... brakes, rims, ECU. But not the round tail lights.
I have been reading this forum for over 4 months while trying to locate the right car. This forum is great and look forward in adding my experences and comments.
I live on the just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Is there an Atlanta chapter?

Welcome to V8 ownership and congratulations on your new baby. As long as you buy the car from an authorized dealer and you are the first owner, you get the 2-year unlimited mileage warranty. A couple clarifications.
1- Brakes: The 2000 MY introduced the AP Racing Brakes as standard (was from the 1999 Sport 350). As a result, this is not a 2002 upgrade, it was already standard.
2- ECM (ECU): The 2000/2001MY cars have the same base ECM which has the Sport 350 Boost profiles. Lotus offers a High-Torque Upgrade where the ECM is reprogrammed with further enhancements to the boost profiles. To date, Lotus has not made this High-Torque upgrade available to 2002/2003 MY cars yet, so you don't have a 2002 ECM, you probably have the 2000/2001 High-Torque upgrade.
As for the meaningful changes brought in 2002, they include:
- Sport 350 Front Lower Valance
- New O.Z. Racing wheels
- Round Taillights
- Center-outlet Exhaust System
- Alloy Door Sills (25th Anniversary)
- Rear "ESPRIT" decal
- New wiper blade w/deflector
- Some interior upgrades, brake handle, headrest stitching, etc.
The first bit of advice I can give is to use Chevron Supreme. Other fuels may yield some problems. Super Shell always generates a Check Engine Light. Do adhere to the break-in ritual closely and be certain to have the 1500 miles service/inspection done as retorquing the rear axle hubs is critical.
Best of luck with your new V8, it's great car and wonderful to drive.
Regards, KM

Congrats on your new purchase!
There is an Atlanta group of Lotus owners. In addition you may want to go to Road Atlanta this Saturday and Sunday (13th & 14th). Lotus Cars USA sponsors part of the races in the Atlanta Historics including a Lotus Only race. Many of us from Florida go every year. We will be leaving for Gerogia Friday morning so that we can spend the afternoon ay LCU.
