Where can I Learn to Shoot?
Discussion
Rod & Gun skeet club just outside the base at Lakenheath, gun club at the old runway at Mepal/Sutton, clay club at the motocross track in Doddington, another club just down the road from the Lazy Otter, loads of places locally depending on what ya want to to do.

Thanks Simon, bit too far to travel unfortunately.
Also, not keen on things that might shoot back.
John, just fancy having a go at shooting. I'm not angry with Scott or anything sinister
I've had my shotgun application form for a couple of years all filled out & ready for the police to check but didn't know anyone to sign it that knew me for 2 years & was an upstanding member of the community.
Are any of you teachers, accountants, surveyors, army/raf that'll vouch for me? I must have known most of you for two years.
Lee, I've looked up those sites & found two possibilities. Going to give them a call later on today.

It wasn't me in the Townhouse, I've never been in there (yet) so if there's a doppelganger of me, I hope she's behaving herself. Most of my friends are in Cambridge so I don't go out in Ely (got no-one to go with, as my friends think it's a hick town).
Mechanic, I want to start with clays. There's loads of shooting opportunities round where I live, and back up in Shropshire, where I'm from.

John Bidwell's place, (5 times world champion) he taught me too, although it was probably 10 years ago now.

If you can do a few sessions of laser clay shooting then do that before you move onto real clays. It will get you used to tracking the clays through the air and holding the weight of the gun, you also tend to get four times as many clays for your money. After the first 45 minute session of that expect not to be able to lift your arms properly for a day or two. Two sessions on the lasers and you should be cracking a pair off on at least 90% of the pulls and you'll be ready for real shot.
The one thing that laser clay shooting doesn't teach you is how to "lead" or deal with the recoil but to my mind you are best off learning that once you can handle and aim a gun properly anyway.
