As I have stated a few times, I would love to swap out my CV8 wheels, for some nice 19" VXR wheels, but they are either scarce, or out of my budget.

I've decided to look out for a nice set of after market alloys, these are quite similar to the VXR wheels:

www.alloywheels.com/product.asp?numPageStartPosition=13&P_ID=1688&strPageHistory=&strKeywords=&strSearchCriteria=&PT_ID=148

...or go for a nice set of 5 spoke which I think will suit the car quite well, something like these, but not exact:

www.alloywheels.com/product.asp?numPageStartPosition=13&P_ID=1689&strPageHistory=&strKeywords=&strSearchCriteria=&PT_ID=148

5 spoke looked really nice on Jon's Maloo at the Grasshopper.

I'm gonna stick with 18's as I read that the Monkfish guru's think 18's work better on the CV8. My question is, what should I be looking out for when buying? I have the AP kit fitted and I've heard that not all alloys will clear the AP calipers. Basically I have no idea which ones I can get and if they will fit. Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks.

Not alot out there in this country fits. I know River wheels fit and some of the TSW range as well, one that does look nice is the CSL replica alloys for the standard E46 (not the M3 variant!) as the 19" ones are staggered (8.5 and 9.5" wide) with just the right offsets for the Ro. My 20" will be going cheap soon as looking to upgrade to some 3 peice custom made ones.. hint hint! thumbup

Thanks for the replies. Not a lot of choice then eh?

So is it the offset that's the issue? I still don't know what I'm looking for when I look into wheels. Do I need 8.5 and 9.5 for front and rear? Is that why the skinny spare wheel only fits on one end of the car?

20" sound a little big, plus my Ro has been lowered 4.2 at the front and 3.8 at the rear. I'm not sure if they would fit. Do you have any pics? Keep me in mind if you sell them. Cheers.

Drop me a PM and I will post you some pictures... mines lowered alot to but I had the rear arches rolled (dont go there!) to accomodate 10" rear rims and 285/25 tires, the front 9" wide rims fit fine. Standard width rims look to skinney to me so going up to 9.5 on the rear fills them out nicely without any arch mods. It is the Offset that you will have issues with as the hubs protrude alot on the rear, hence no one has a Ro with huge liped rims like some of the BMW boys do.

20" you'll need to roll the arches, bmw replicas can be made to fit but there are problems with the offset and centre bore size. WPUK have a cracking deal on some 19" wheels but when you add decent tyres you don't get much change out of 1700-1800 quid which could be spent going faster, handling better etc

I wish I could help but the wheels were on the car when I bought it. They're 19's and the ute has been lowered. They just about fit at the front but I don't have the premium brakes so I'm not sure if thats an issue with that style wheel....hopefully not cos I'd like to upgrade to AP's at some point!

I spoke to a few companies and no one would help - I didn't got mental or anything, just phoned a few locals. My 19inch VXR rims are looking awful (peeling, and one has some rash from the previous owner) and I figured 20s would be nice - but so far I can't get what I want without remortgaging.

Have a look at eBay Australia. Wheels that fit, third party ones especially, are not so rare out there.

or get hold of a copy of street commodores - loads of ads for suppliers of wheels in there but I assumed he was looking for local suppliers.

I don't mind ordering them in from somewhere. I'm just a bit worried about ordering them when I don't know if they fit when they arrive. I'll keep looking but I'm still none the wiser on the requirement for choosing them. Maybe I'm just being a dipstick as I don't really know much about offset and centre bore sizes, I'm a bit of a noob!

Thanks for all the suggestions though, I'll keep looking. A lot of these places only do wheel and tyre packages anyway, and they mostly seem to do 18's fitted with 215's which probably wouldn't be great on the ro.

If anyone else decides to get rid of their 19's in future, please give me a shout

If I have any luck finding some. I'll post to let you guys know. Might just find somewhere and drive down and get them to try some out. I drove past an alloy place in Canterbury today.

I did think about WPUK, but I just don't have that sort of money to spend on wheels. I'd like to keep it under a grand, even if it's wheels only, as I can always transfer the rubber over and sell on the CV8 wheels.

Tempy. Try Frank at the Wheelking site as they have a Holden page, I got a set of Coupe 4 alloys (like HarryOz's.) They arrived 5 days after payment was made, they are not yet fitted but will be within the next week so will be able to post some pictures when done.

www.simmonswheel.com.au

Though personally I think they need to do some more modern designs and for some reason I dont think they do the F15 anymore, which looked good on ANYTHING, in black with a polished rim.

ETA: ROH are popular in Oz too.

http://www.roh.com.au/asp/home.asp

Least you know these two brands will fit and the guys will have loads of experience with how they will go on your car.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try and pick up a copy of street commodores and I've had a look at the wheelking site www.wheelking.com.au and they have some good prices on packages. At last, somewhere that puts proper tyre sizes on at least 235/40/R18's, not 215's on 18" rims. I'll drop Frank an email and see if he can help.

Thanks again guys.

I bet you've all had enough of this thread already.

Ok, I'm interested in 18's in either these:
http://wheelking.com.au/Wheels/tabid/

or these:
www.wheelking.com.au/Wheels/tabid/196/ctl/ViewItem/mid/649/item/608/Default.aspx

What tyres would be best to go for? The Falcons or the Pirelli's? I'm going to try and get hold of Frank and see whether either of these rims wil fit the CV8 with AP's.

I've heard mixed reviews on here on Falken tyres, so just wondered what people think.

dont buy them with tyres unless you like spending money - shipping and vat makes it more sensible to buy the tyres over here.

What can I expect to pay when they arrive here? Just VAT at 17.5% or will there be additional charges?
