I think with the specs you've given the only plasma to consider is the Panasonic PX80 - no brainer.

Digger.

Do you have Sky (HD) etc, and/or Freeview?

Not a plasma, but what's the verdict on this?: http://www.soundandvisiononline.com/moreinfo/index... Am in a similar boat tellywise.

Then spend it wisely on a superior display - 37PX80 for SD, 42PZ80 for HD, presuming you sit 8-10 ft away.
Any further - you should be looking bigger for SD (std def).

That sony seems a bit of a bargin to me and mate has one similar if not the same and picture quality was superb. Just reminds me however when my dad brought our Philips 42" Plasma around 4 years ago and payed just over 3k which was one of only 3 in the shop at the time just shows how quickly technology moves on and on that note do not buy a Philips ours has broken down twice and was not covered by warrenty costing us another 700quid in total meaning that we were looking at around 4k for just a TV ouch lol well my dads money so not bad for me but he has regretted ever since buying the thing. Anway go for a Panasonic or Sony and you should be okay both make fine televisions.

Just a quick thanks to Plotloss (after some consideration I 'L'Orealed' myself wink!) and Der, from another very satisfied soundandvision customer.

Particularly impressed by the less-than-24hr delivery (Order placed 12 noon Monday, big telly arrived 0830 Tuesday at King Sid HQ). Panasonic TH-37PX80B now looking the dog's danglies chez moi, and it's even got approval from the Mrs!

Lovely.
