Thus far on my travels, the most stunning thing I've seen has been the Grand Canyon. I was hoping Machu Picchu would eclipse it - I wasn't disappointed.

Actually, that's not quite true - I was disappointed when I got up there. It was raining in Aguas Calientes (the town nearby) and it was very misty and cloudy up the mountain :

However, that did allow for some lovely atmospheric (hoho) views

And then, the mist started to clear...

It's an incredible place.

Although you do get the odd tt in a PH hat popping upwink

Gorgeous - personally I'd PS those tourists out:

but there's a lovely evocative feel to your images. I think the mist enhances it.

Consider trying this if you want to remove the tourists: http://photoshopnews.com/2007/03/27/image-stacks-i...

I get vertigo just looking at those photos! No wonder the Aztecs never invented bicycles.

I quite like the tourists for scale and colour - but the quickest way to see the place is Google Earth!

Did you do the treck or did you just go to the site by bus?

The trek is amazing. I've got a fair few shots from the hike unfortunatly on film rather than digital.

Lovely place, lovely shots.

I had even more problems with fog and rain when we went to Halong Bay last year (go there...very cool!), and then even more problems when I managed to delete half the shots on rebuilding my computer! banghead

Superb shots as always Graham. I think you've captured the atmosphere of the place well and I too think that the mist adds to the atmosphere though admittedly there is a little too much in the first shots.

Cheers smile The first couple were simply to illustrate HOW invisible it was rather than being of much photographic merit.

I will be doing some PSing on them when I get back (thin out the tourists a bit, get rid of the extraneous flag in the b&w one of the guide etc), but that will be in several months - not got it on my laptop, just Lightroom.
