Thats the really odd part isn't it. It's not "man crushed under falling F1 car", or "Man suffers electric shock", but a firearm! Could it be he had a wound consistant with a firearm but was in fact a piece of engine/car moving at high speed and he was unfortuante enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?

I agree. I would assume some people here would know people who work there. Can we have this thread locked, if only to save speculation over someones death?I'm sorry but I don't see wy this thread should be locked? It's on pretty much every racing and news website/forum and other than people posting in bad taste why lock it (I agree if bad taste comments get out of hand though)? If this person has killed themselves (which nowhere does it say this is the case) then it is very sad for his family, work friends and Renault but it's still an "intersting" news story in the world of motorsport.
I don't want to know the gory details, just what has actually happened and I think by the nature of the reports not saying it was a suicide it makes it a little bit strange. Just my 2p's worth though.

The death has been reported with news stories on various media sources and speculation on various forums. There will continue to be speculation until the police make a full statement.I undestand the intent in wanting to close the thread, but I'm not convinced we should. This is a discussion forum after all.

From the Autosport website - "Police have confirmed the Renault staff member who was killed earlier this week at their factory died from a shot to the head.
Thames Valley police said, however, that they were not treating William Millar's death as suspicious, which seems to suggest the 53-year-old killed himself.
"A 53-year-old man was seen walking down a bridleway on the Renault site," a police spokesman was quoted as saying by the Telegraph.
"A few moments later a shot was fired. His body was discovered at the scene and he had died from a shot to the head.
"We are not treating this incident as suspicious and a file has been passed to the coroner."
The newspaper said a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out today".
Very sad news for the family indeed
