V6 THROTTLE MOD..."MUST DO"..

I Have had my S3c now since Dec 07, like most people I have always thought thre throttle response was rubbish, the weak link as you all know is the throttle plate, because the throttle action initially moves the plate which in turn moves the throttle itself, it means that every prod of the throttle pedal only moves the actual throttle a tiny amount (still with me ?) the straight bracket helps things but it is still like having an elastic band as a throttle cable.
I thought about this for a while and decided that if we could do without the plate altogether we would get a direct connection between the throttle assembly and the actual butterfly itself, here is what I came up with.
If I have got it right there should be two rather average quality pictures of what I did.
I went to the scrapyard and releived an old Fiat Punto of some of its throttle assembly and an old Escort of one of those ball and socket arangements which old Fords and our cars
have as part of the throttle arangement.
I then removed the ball/knuckle and got it soldered to the main bolt that has the roller bush thing on it and that the TVR throttle plate actually moves around, a word of caution here I tried soldering it myself but failed so I took it to a local friendly fabrication shop who said that only "silver soldering would work" welding would not be an option.
As I was removing one of the throttle springs I had to do a rather heath robinson job of an extra return spring which stil gave me problems as the throttle wouln't fully close under the power of the springs, so I removed the throttle pedal itself (a right pain) cleaned the bushing and reassembled using lots of grease which worked brilliantly.
Then all I did was tighten the throttle cable up until the throttle stop was just off the end, I then loosened the cable by half of one turn and hey presto.
The cost of this conversion is virtualy zero but the effect is absolutley amazing you would not believe how good it feels to just touch the pedal and here the engine respond with a good dose of revs.
Cosmetically it needs tidying but that will be done in due course, Good Luck

I have been running this set up now for about 3 months and I could never go back to the standard arangement in my opinion it just isn't acceptable.
The only word of caution is that it takes practice to feather the throttle open, like when you are running very slow in traffic and are on and off the pedal all the time, but once you get the hang of it there isn't a problem.

Edited to say: I always carry the old set up in the boot just in case the soldering fails or something like that.
