I've got kidney stones!!!!
Well so they told me 3 weeks ago when i was in lots of pain and pissing blood.
Anyway a day or so later and i felt fine, they discharged me and sent me home and said they'd send me for a check up in a few weeks.
Appointment came through last week for next wednesday. Pretty good i thought.
Letter recieved today. Sorry Mr Dan1981 due to unforseen circumstances we have to cancel your appointment next week...... and reschedule it......

Drink plenty of water, and if possible ask your GP about having lithotripsy.
PS We are not all standing around twiddling our thumbs waiting for a patient to turn up.
The work's pretty much relentlessly non-stop.
yeah i've been getting through plenty of water, they gave me some tablets as well - apparently they relax the kidney and the tubes etc to make them easier to pass. I was told to piss through a sieve but it does get you some odd looks in the gents.....PS We are not all standing around twiddling our thumbs waiting for a patient to turn up.

and no offense was meant by the post, i was pretty impressed with the treatment i recived when i was in pain, and thought the time for the follow up apointment and everything wasn't too bad.
BUT October? i mean really?
just to update this thread...... (incase anyone cares)
6 months after diagnosis,
3 x rays later,
2 cat scans,
3 cancelled apointments
4 real apointments.
Last Friday i had an operation to start the removal of my stones!
And i have to say the NHS were bloody brilliant i think.
I went in fro Day surgery, went in at lunch time and was back home about 6.30 pm.
I was given a general anaesthetic kncoked out while they shoved a tube into my kidney and bladder. (you don't want to know how they got it there - but when i asked if they could use keyhole or somethign they responded with "why make a new hole when there's one already there")
I've spent the last week, pissing blood and in alittle bit of pain but nothing too bad.
I go back this friday, they remove the tube they put in and then go "fishing" for the stones.
But all in all not a terrible experience!
