I'm looking to get either a C or D type recreation built and was wondering if there are any specialist clubs/forums for these type of cars or is a case of joining JEC or JDC .... and indeed do these 2 clubs allow recreation cars

Cheers Claire

Yes, both clubs happily accept replicas/recreations of their cars.
At my local JEC regional events we've recently had replica C types, a Suffolk SS100 and a XK150 replica, sorry can't remember which one.

Lowdrag on here writes a column in the JDC magazine on the subject. He's in the process of recreating one of the 1952, Lowdrag, C-Types as exactly as is humanly possible (except for the overheating problem)

If the recreation is sufficiently accurate it is now possible to get an FIA historic passport for the car and they are then accepted at some classic motor racing events.

As long as no one tries to pass them off as being original then generally most people are happy. Let's face it, not many people are in the position to own an original C or D. Most of them don't come out to play often enough. So if we want to be able to look at one at the clubs, then replicas are likely to be the only ones available.

I'm sure Lowdrag will be along to comment on this soon. He may be able to offer some helpful pointers on your options.

You might like to visit the yesterday's hero forum here and ask the people there.
There are at least two people there who have or in the process of getting recreations.

But I don't know of a club for recreation cars. But then I've never had reason to try and find one so who knows.
